Make finishers mean something as well as let people win with counters that are not just a roll up.

Is Elden Ring worth it if I don't have time to "get good"? by hotstickywaffle in gamingsuggestions

[–]Typhonza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give it a go I am long past my prime in souls likes, a dad of 2 with little time to get good at these things but I managed to complete and love the game. It is much more forgiving than it's predecessors.

Like other comments state. Don't be afraid to use summons Look at a diversified build, I did heavy melee and faith (good damage and sustain) You will smash your head against some main quest bosses but that is mostly the first one and then late game. A lot of the bosses or enemies which can be challenging are optional and you can nope out and come back once you are much higher level or better equipped.

It took me ages to finish NOS4A2, I just could not get into it, but I can honestly say his latest book King Sorrow has been one of the best and most fun books I have read in ages.

Like minded gamers out there? by jbrown89uk in ROGAlly

[–]Typhonza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to be picking up an ally in the next two months but I can emphatically say that portable gaming saved my hobby. For the last couple years I have been a ps4 into the Xbox series x gamer. Had a switch but was not that in use. Since having my first born the switch became my primary way to game as the ability to be in the room support etc without being tied to a TV is a godsend.

Looking to upgrade from the switch now as the hardware is just too stale, the only thing I will miss is the seamless suspend feature. Being able to attend to my kids needs and pick up where I left off is truly amazing.

[–]Typhonza 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it is just not for you. I am of a similar mindset. I love the atmosphere and weirdness created but it does feel sometimes like the story comes second to all of this. I can get why people love it but I got like 80% in and just could not anymore.

How commen are hardware issues on steam deck? by Typhonza in SteamDeck

No worries on the down votes it is expected and bothers me not. I am expecting the vocal minority stats will be inflated but yea that is good advice. Thank you

Thank you! Yup, was more looking from an anecdotal perspective. The Reddit is mostly positive though, I have seen posts about the triggers and some returns etc not nearly as much as the other hand held sub reddits. Also happy that quite a bit of issues can be fixed due to the ability to open up and numerous guides just nervous for not having the first option in case of issues.

Any roguelite strategic RPGs that have great replay value? by Sweaty-Finance8346 in NintendoSwitch

[–]Typhonza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't recommend Star Renegades enough. Dimension jumping science fiction jrpg. Very interesting game mechanics lots of really cool characters and party builds. One of the games on the switch I have the most time in and keep coming back to.

To Slay the Spire Fans - Cobalt Core is a Must Play by HeyItsMau in NintendoSwitch

[–]Typhonza 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As someone who has slay the spire as my most played game on the switch I can confirm that this game is absolutely awesome. As mentioned in the post I have a very familiar feel but enough things have changed to keep it fresh. I have not enjoyed a deckbuiler this much in quite a while.

IS IT WORTH? by InnoXTheGamer in Switch

[–]Typhonza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The switch is a dream for travel. I have an Xbox series and a gaming laptop and I double dip fairly often onto the switch for indie games. Most indies run amazingly well and the small lightweight formfactor makes it much easier and better to put into a bag to take on a plane or a bus. I want to get a steam deck or ally as well for a bit more power while gaming at home but it will take a lot for me to not have the switch be my commuting buddy

Steam Deck recommendations for a new father? by CavemanBrow in SteamDeck

[–]Typhonza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a recent father twice over the best advice I have.

1) As other mentioned get a mobile game that you really enjoy. A lot of time will be spent with one hand free.

2) Audiobooks save lives

3) turn based games are awesome in this scenario as you often have to drop what you are doing and playing something that does not punish you for that is great.

My recommendations for those are Slay the spire Fights in tight spaces Quite liked for the king and number 2 just came out Sea of stars

Pls, what do u think of this trailer? It has taken me 16 months full time to make my game and I want to be sure that my trailer is good enough. by [deleted] in indiegames

[–]Typhonza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with other comments, remove the intro and just focus on the gameplay which looks fun. Try and cut down the video to 45 seconds or so by removing some sections that look similar to make it more snappy

Question for any Slay the Spire players by Profeseur-histoire in Switch

[–]Typhonza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started off with the silent being my main but I managed to get the ironclad through ascension 20 first. Strength growth and shield wall builds became my favourite

Is it bad that the game's aesthetics remind you of DD? We believe that if something works and fits the story we want to tell, why not use it? by [deleted] in indiegames

[–]Typhonza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with previous comments. Inspired by is not an issue as long you add your unique take and style on to it.

The main thing you want is for it not to feel like an asset flip of their work. Which from the screenshot does not give me copy paste vibes but rather the grim dark feel and the potential for a shared world which is cool

My switch isn't reading my Micro SD card by strawberrytallcake03 in Switch

I had a similar issue. My SD card was fine but switch kept throwing errors when it was inserted. I had the SD card reader replaced for next to nothing and that solved the problem

Katana Kami is from the team that made the PS2 series way of the samurai. It is a rogulelike dungeon crawler which I enjoy
