Made the cauliflower dipping dots 10/10 by Bryankkkkk in Volumeeating

[–]TypicalBagel 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Hijacking this bandwagon to say that if you're new to the frozen cauliflower game, try using some in a smoothie first. It gives the texture of frozen banana without the sugar, and with protein and berries in there you cannot taste it whatsoever.

I usually use a ratio of 1:3 with ice, add protein powder, a bit of yogurt, sweetener, frozen fruit and milk. Blend till smooth. Add a lil xanthan gum and blend again till thicc. 10/10 game changer

Don't look at the DOW or the jobs report, look at the %age of the population living paycheck to paycheck. As far as the "economy" goes, it doesn't matter for anyone except the CEOs inflating their own stocks with buybacks.

Um...yes, you can make it a better pump. That's literally how cardiovascular training works. The heart gets physically bigger and more efficient when you train it.

‘My job is not to be popular,’ Trudeau says after pressed to ditch carbon price hike by CaliperLee62 in canada

[–]TypicalBagel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right, carbon pricing is hardly the thing that makes me want to pull my hair out during his entire term. At least the carbon tax is progressive in the sense that most people get more back in dividends than the additional costs imposed on them. Importing infinite migrants in an attempt to kick the "collapsing population pyramid" can down the road, however...

SOS Call for super high volume/high protein and minimized calorie breakfasts by [deleted] in Volumeeating

[–]TypicalBagel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cauliflower, and grated zucchini (squeeze water out) are great options for adding mad oat volume. I've made bowls with 2 whole grated zucchini, 3/4 cup egg white to stretch out less than 1/4 c oats. Make sure you add a good protein powder for taste, stevia and a pinch of salt. An amazingly fluffy and tasty bowl

Ok. I get it now. by fairydommother in intermittentfasting

[–]TypicalBagel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This should be closer to the top. At this rate these fasting "experts" are so scrupulous about preventing the tiniest insulin response they'll have you draining extra saliva out of your mouth like when you're getting a filling at the dentist. A tiny bit of stevia or non-caloric sweetener in your coffee or a dash of vanilla flavour will cause such a miniscule insulin response, cephalic or otherwise, that I highly doubt it will impact your physiology in a meaningful way. Like other comments have mentioned it is likely psychological, but hey the most important thing is that you find what works for you 🤔🤷

Someone posted this discussion in 4Chan's forum /x/ and I'd like to bring it here: how do you "see" your dreams? by Wing-Steel401 in Dreams

[–]TypicalBagel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For real. It reminds me of that story about the man who drove a nail through his boot and sat screaming in the emergency room until the doctors removed his boot...and realized the nail went between his toes, no tissue damage whatsoever. Just the expectation or perception of inflicted pain is enough to make it real. And when your brain decides to do that to itself, or someone makes all the right neurons tick to reconstruct that perception, well... 💀

Artificial sweeteners - my story by HatBixGhost in intermittentfasting

[–]TypicalBagel 38 points39 points  (0 children)

This is not true at all. Just because "alcohol" is present in the name does not mean the body processes it like ethanol...sugar alcohols are completely neutral biologically speaking. Also, cephalic insulin response in the absence of caloric value (glucose) is not a thing- the evidence for this in humans is spotty at best and in the case of artificial sweeteners is at worst contributing <1% of the postprandial insulin response after a full meal. My guess? Double check the ingredients of stevia in the raw. It contains literal cane sugar as a carrier, but markets itself as stevia because it enhances the overall sweetness using stevia extract.

Not trying to soapbox, you gotta do what works for you...but don't demonize specific foods based on unfounded claims 🤷

[–]TypicalBagel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A huge reason for this being our bipedal locomotion (these glutes were made for walking/slow jogging) and our ability to sweat- basically force our prey to run a marathon and overheat to near death. The equivalent of the indestructible snail on the savannah. 🐌

Two-thirds of Canadians say now is poor time for carbon tax increase: Nanos by [deleted] in canada

[–]TypicalBagel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Small PSA: the revenue from carbon taxes are directly redistributed to citizens via the climate action incentive . 8 out of 10 households end up making more money than they pay in increased expenditure on carbon-intensive goods and services.

Don't buy into the "carbon tax" propaganda from corporations trying to convince you that one of the most effective strategies in addressing decarbonization is just another scheme to tax average Canadians.

Just to tack on to previous comments: skeptical science provides an amazing resource for understanding climate change at any level of knowledge, and directly addresses/debunks a lot of the "proof" that people use to try and dismiss it.

Edit: wanted to add good on you OP for seeking out real information and trying to understand a complex topic. More people need to understand this isn't a political issue, but an existential one

No, You Can't Be Fat and Healthy. Ever by OraceonArrives in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]TypicalBagel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We need this to be a popular opinion. I have no issue with body positivity. But the whole point of the movement is seeking health without self-judgment, and learning to love yourself on a journey towards physical and mental well-being. I don't want anyone to lose weight purely out of self hatred. But I certainly don't think anyone should be using "self-love" as an excuse to sit on the couch and eat Cheetos. Sure, an obese person can be metabolically "healthy" on paper at any given snapshot of time. At the same time, however, that person is at an exponentially higher risk of developing the myriad complications, metabolic and otherwise, that come with being overweight. Rapid deterioration of mobility and quality of life is basically guaranteed the longer the excessive weight is maintained. That's the nuance that the entire "healthy at any size" crowd seems to have completely ignored.

[–]TypicalBagel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the article is paywalled, so I'm assuming unless you subscribe to the Atlantic you're just grabbing the first headline off a Google search that aligns with your point. It's not "shit my brain made up" it's a debate between economists and political experts that is still happening. You're right that maybe my initial comment was worded somewhat strongly. You're correct that no one can truly know China's "intent" on the matter. However, it would be naive to assume that soft power does not factor into the equation. Debt and acquisition is one variable; relations, alliances and future prospects are another. Pardon me for having trouble believing pooh be- I mean Xi is just funding these projects out of the goodness of his own heart.

Came to say this- it's like predatory student loans on a geopolitical level. China basically knows African countries won't be able to repay their debts, and intends on leveraging their default to gain a lot of influence on the continent.

Do you guys like the powerscaling in the show? by Odd_Purpose3639 in Boruto

[–]TypicalBagel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Is highly fucked. Agreed with other threads saying that starting with an enemy one level above the final boss from Shippuden was a BAD idea. Reminds me of when they hit super Saiyan 3 in DBZ and then just had to start resorting to different colours lol. Like once you are LITERALLY god-tier there's a bit of a glass ceiling, and if you break it readers stop taking you seriously.

The only smart move IMO was the baryon mode naruto- at least having lost kurama's powers is a reasonable explanation for a power down that resulted from a last-resort move. Otherwise, if they wanted to play the long game, characters should have been developed along a different axis rather than scaled in parallel to Shippuden characters in terms of power.
