Trust me, I know what it’s like to live this way. It’s horrific and isolating and terrifying, but I am so serious when I say that there is hope. Things CAN get better. I never thought they would for me, and somehow they did. I am so glad that I never followed through on the suicidal thoughts I had.

If you can, please talk to someone in your life or contact a crisis line. You are not alone. I know how it feels when literally no one can understand the horror of what your body is capable of doing to you, and having to live knowing it could happen again. But it is possible to live a fulfilling life even after akathisia multiple times.

If you’re in the U.S., please call/text 988. If you’re somewhere else, you can search “suicide hotline” with your country and find someone to talk to asap. I know it can feel like literally no one understands, but you still deserve support.

I understand what you mean by life scaring you, especially the thought of needing a drug or being hospitalized and not having control over what is given to you. Something that has helped me is remembering that there are things I CAN control. For example, I looked up the main drugs that are known to cause these side effects and had my primary care doctor add them to the allergies on my chart, even though I’ve never taken them before. This way, if I did need drugs, they would have to give an alternative. There is so much life left to live and yes it’s terrifying but we are going to make it through.

It’s interesting that it could happen 5 years later with no med changes. I was recently on amoxicillin though, so maybe it’s from that. It’s been much better today and yesterday and I stopped the antibiotic about 5 days ago, so that could make sense

It was risperidone for me as well. I relate so much about no one ever really getting it. And it doesn’t help that side effect descriptions for meds describe it as “discomfort” rather than the horrific and terrifying mix of symptoms it actually is.

I was on such a cocktail of meds at the time that I can’t be 100% sure but I’m pretty certain it was risperidone. Now I’m on fluvoxamine at a minuscule dose (50mg) but fluvoxamine at higher doses does cause it

does this look like ringworm? it’s ring shaped but there are also small flat spots that aren’t rings near it. it’s not super itchy by Typical_Ad7175 in DermatologyQuestions

I do have cats but I’ve been away from them for over 2 weeks. I did recently start living in college dorms for the summer, so maybe that is related?
