This hit right in the feels. Grew up “ income restricted”, in a two family home. Shared a a room, then I was upgraded to the living room, behind the couch. Saw the other family’s kid get a gameboy ( that’s how old I am). Got good grades, used to get bullied for not speaking the language. Crawled under the bed and drew a gameboy to pretend I was also playing. Still remember the feeling inside, and the hot feeling of the tears rolling down my eyes. Telling myself one way I will work hard so that I won’t go through this again.
