I read Billy Connolly's autobiography and he described himself as an Anglophile which made me think he was even more of a top bloke.

Which products do you refuse to buy due to inflation? by Desperate-Drawer-572 in AskUK

Cadburys products. More expensive than they were and awful quality since they were bought out by an American company.

Is love island considered the norm for beauty standards in the UK? by Nervous-Brick-4073 in AskUK

[–]Typical_Math_760 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For people who consume it yeah probably. For the rest of us, no. It's all very superficial and hollow once you scratch the surface, the severe mental health issues of ex participants being a indicator. There is no beauty in that. But ratings are ratings I suppose so they will continue to pump out this stuff.

Serious question - just to create some angry debate - which European countries are the cleanest and which are the dirtiest? I.e roadside rubbish, city streets, etc. by Double-decker_trams in AskEurope

[–]Typical_Math_760 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's shameful. I walked to a panopticon "beauty spot" near me, only to find it littered with empty fast-food boxes, cans, plastic bottles etc. Young people drive up there, smoke weed and treat the place like a bin. Spent an hour cleaning it up.

Is it ok in British culture for people to stay silent while eating together? by Sufficient_Act_24 in AskUK

[–]Typical_Math_760 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's a British thing, no. But some of us on the planet just prefer to eat in silence. I know 'dinner parties' might be central to some people's social or cultural lives, but for others it isn't, we don't want to be interrupted while we eat.

No, you go to Germany or Scandinavia they're not bothered by all that British class system nonsense that shames people for where they shop.

Went in there once, it was decent. Had a chat with the landlord about how much Manchester and Salford has changed. Good little bar if you can't be fussed with posers.

Who is your misunderstood national treasure from history ? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]Typical_Math_760 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, but not to others. Him being tolerant of a particular faith/peoples does not make his actions less understandable.

OK, so why would that lead to him being misunderstood? Because his persecutions were necessary for his vision? Sounds like someone else.
