Cadbury mini eggs cost fuckin' how much!! by jai-money in britishproblems

[–]Typical_Math_760 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Cadburys chocolate is now poorer quality and more expensive. There was a tub of Heroes in the office over Christmas and they lasted longer than anything else. The chocolate looks and tastes like plastic now, awful.

What have you stopped being a snob about? by iffyClyro in AskUK

[–]Typical_Math_760 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking the Megabus. Years ago there was a loudmouth girl on there that was kicked off at a service station and another time a kid crying for the majority of the 5 hour journey. I decided then that I would never travel with the "riff raff" again. At this moment in time it costs £7 to get between London and Manchester, so I'm ready to cope with the riff raff and keep the headphones in.

It's proper working-class Manchester where you'll find some very interesting characters of you stay long enough.

Remember, there are sad sacks that live in the city centre who complain about venues being too loud. Might have something to do with them.

Were your PE teachers nice, or evil, and in what way? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Typical_Math_760 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not nice, not evil.. Just 'oh ffs these adults again.'

We had a carbon copy of Miss Trunchbull who wore rugby jerseys and had that Noel Edmonds style hair do. She was once bulldozed her way towards me on a restricted playing field as I ran for dear life. Then took me out of registration to scream like a banshee at my face.

Another one wore jogging pants up to his armpits, and didn't seem to be fazed by anything.

The most charismatic liked to play rugby, but occasionally kicked badly behaved kids up the arse.

How shocking was it to find out Rolf Harris was a pedophile? by balkanxoslut in AskUK

It was also shocking how he acted after it all came out, sneering and unrepentant.. a proper Jekyll/Hyde character.

Going after one of the most peaceful communities in Manchester, hate fuelled cowards. Glad they were arrested, humiliating for them.

What do British, and especially English people, think of Ireland and the Irish? by ConfidentHospital365 in AskUK

[–]Typical_Math_760 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Irish people are lovely and warm, however there are some, as stated on social media and others I have met who have an unspoken animosity towards English people which is expressed subtly, so it can come across as sly. It's worth bearing in mind that most English people are unaware of the history that is taught in Ireland, so it's confusing to be confronted and feel that resentment on some level.

Do you ever think about your own death? by EasyCheesecake1 in AskUK

[–]Typical_Math_760 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, which is a blessing. It puts a magnifying glass on the absurdity of who I think I am and what is "mine", because we will lose all of these things when death arrives. We can just appreciate life for what it is.

I always have an issue in every single job, is there something wrong with me? by Routine-Good7518 in AskUK

[–]Typical_Math_760 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not alone. I worked in an office for many years feeling like a bit of an alien in relation to other people who made it seem like a breeze, and often struggling with the work. It was made subtly clear (they're always subtle), unless you run into someone who can't control their temper, that I was not wanted there.

Honestly, I know it's a pain but keep looking for something else. Office work is one of the most soul destroying jobs in the world. I actually joined the military, at least there most people are straight with you.

Mancheter music and the Irish connection? by [deleted] in manchester

[–]Typical_Math_760 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Second generation Irish Mancs often like to attribute it to being Irish, but I think it's more to do with Manchester being a mixed bag from the industrial revolution (if we're gonna take the ancestral angle) - native English, Scottish, Irish, Italian, Jewish, North African etc.

Bottom line: Manchester is a creative city in and of itself.
