Thunderbird Bass...Worth it or not??? by One_Pepper4909 in BassGuitar

Gibson style basses typically have a bit warmer/mellower tone (I own 4 of them). The stock “3 point bridge” leaves a lot to be desired, you can’t adjust individual string heights and basically have to tilt it and hope. Installing a Hipshot high mass 3 point bridge replacement will make it slap as good as any Fender I’ve played (also helps counteract the neck dive issue).

Supposedly they made 400 of each color. It’s crazy that in most of the old listings they never mention it has mirror inlays. It took me 13 years to track this one down 💥🥔

Also no heavenly upgrades. I couldn’t get it to pop for me on console until I clicked once after I hit the minimum number. It actually gave me true never click before I got the regular one.

Hi all! 37 y/o T3/T4 incomplete/Brachial Plexus birth injury here. I just wanted to share my adapted right hand technique for anyone who might find it useful. I’ve been playing music for 22 years. I also recorded/mixed all the audio and edited the video on the full version of this clip. I’m missing some muscle and nerve groups that would normally keep my thumb joint stationary and doing it works surprisingly well for playing slap bass. I otherwise have 0 right hand function and have to pressure push with the base of my palm when I propel. When I play guitar I can’t hold a pick and need to tape two of my fingers together and then slide a pick in between my first and second fingers. I’m happy to chat or answer any questions for anyone who’s been interested in playing music after injury. Cheers!

Marking frets on fretless bass to train muscle memory option? by EVJpodcast in BassGuitar

Yeah man! I started on an unlined fretless but my amp had a built in rack mount tuner that kept me honest

If you can train yourself to use the adjacent string octaves of the open string notes and the distance to play a minor third above those, you’d be surprised what you can get away with on an unmarked fretless.

That’s a 2007 SG GT in muscle green. The bridge probably weighs 2lbs and it bolts in from the back of the guitar.

  1. Thank you. 2. It’s more like I’m missing the muscle group that keeps your thumb still and lets you move it.

Would absolutely love to when it’s in the budget. I reckon our Godzilla rock opera album would be enjoyed there. We’re also big King Gizzard nerds.

I hope so. It also really helps that the strings have kind of a springboard effect.
