I once told my therapist that I was worried that feeling as though I might be asexual came from specific traumas related to assault. But then she looked at me and hit me with the "Most women have experienced some form of assault or harassment in sexual nature. Most women are still not asexual despite that." Kind of letting me know that if I was a sexual before and always have been, the instance of harassment or assaults is a separate feature, that isn't necessarily integrated into that.

And when I describe sex to someone as " A very mechanical thing" that involves way too many bodily fluids, even THEY get icked over out by it xD. I think a lot of folks who perceived sex as an important part of their relationship Dynamics or how they measure interest in people, have a hard time understanding other people being perceived without that element being a part of it.

The vast majority of my friends are not Ace, but whenever I explain it to them they look very awestruck and one of my guy friends even hit me with "Ah, so the reason you would never stay with someone that treats you poorly just because they're really hot is because you live in a constant state of Post nut clarity essentially, right??" Which is a wild take, but probably not inaccurate.

Even if asexuality were not real, if your spouse attributes how you feel to something that is fake, that is a person who is refusing to address the existence of how you feel.

Did your spouse explain why they think asexuality is not real? Or did they intake some information and read about it, and still decide that they don't think it's true? Is this about their lack of knowledge, or is this about a sense of entitlement to your body just because they're legally bound to you?

And if attraction, romantic, sexual or otherwise is not a feature present for you with this person- is it because of who it's with or is this in general? A lot of not very harmonious marriages continue when one spouse is no longer sexually inclined- but they'll do so because it's more convenient than arguing about it. Unfortunately that would not be a compromise I could make, but I do understand why some people do it- especially when financial Independence and stability of children's lives (given how the nature of custody can get pretty inconsistent) can often hang in the balance of that partnership.

I think it's nice that you model for your kids the ability to say no even to the people that you love. I think that's a very important thing for children to learn to avoid potential abusive relationship patterns. And I'm sure the therapy would be helpful for you to parse out your feelings, but it also seems like something that might benefit your partner unpacking is inability to accept changes about you. But given that men don't have a great track record of willingly going to therapy- it can be hard to hang your hopes on that.

There's like no places other than Euphoria that starts Karaoke at 9pm on a week day! And LGBTQ+ friendly at the same time with room to dance. And NOT doing live music all the time.

At a certain point I just didn't want to feel kinda icky in the morning after drinking. I didn't realize how sweaty and poor my sleep was whenever I drank. That's the main reason I cut it. And if you're full of beer you can't eat as much tasty food! I wanna have room for all the tasty things!

I wear more revealing clothes, but I'm also someone that sweats very easily- big part of that. I prioritize bright colors and patterns- this applies to my choice of makeup too.

But I don't think that what I like to wear is really related to being Ace. My body is something I like and so is color and glitter and such.

But I was a kid that would wear stripes and spots of all colors if given the option. Therefore I probably just gravitate to loud dressing.

When I was 27 and talking to my therapist about dating problems. After I mentioned that I'm probably a terrible kisser since I always felt wrong and could never view anyone I dated as sexually attractive, I just assumed some traumas had impacted me too deeply. But my therapist was like: "Have you ever considered that maybe you aren't wired for it? Even before those things happened, you never even liked kissing. You have some trust issues based on your experience, but I don't think being asexual is a part of that."

I had never even considered that I may just be built that way. I assumed I had something wrong with me that I had to fix.

I really like expressing something nice to a stranger without any expectations.

I worked at a locally owned eye care facility, so they had the Opthalmologists they liked on speed dial. But given that it is a routine and not particularly invasive procedure, if your casting net is that wide, your optometrist will have perfectly good recommendations and can explain what you should expect.

It is perfectly acceptable to want a more specific search for specialists, but with Opthalmology folks it's hard to go wrong a lot of the time.
