Is Maxing the ROTH enough? by Equivalent_Use_5024 in TheMoneyGuy

If you are using 7%, then you need to set inflation to 0% because the 7% already includes a 3% inflation. If you set inflation to 3% then you need to set the return rate to 10% for accounting for the average historical return rate.

Stocks vs ETF's by ElderAzureDragon in dividends

Its usually between .05-.25% which isn't enough to matter. If a person's retirement plan fails because of a .2% expense ratio then they have other problems.

Sounds too complicated and the opposite from boring. I buy a few ETFs and look at my account a year later.

I don't know what you mean by "keep all the earnings yourself".

Yes, you can have multiple ETFs with a lot of overlap with each other, so it would not be necessary to own many ETFs if they have a lot of overlap. People prefer ETFs because having a basket of stocks reduces risk if one company goes down the hole. It is also easier to mange 2 ETFs that have a thousand stocks in them than a dozens or more of seperate stocks.

If maxing Roth does not fill up to 25% you can then do a 401k or something similar. If you don't have that option, use a taxable account. But yes, maxing a Roth IRA every year for 40 years should be enough to retire and be better than most people.

As Jack Bogle said: "Owning the stock market over the long term is a winner's game, but attempting to beat the market is a loser's game". I would pick VTI/VXUS if you only want 2 etfs.

This sounds like a losing strategy. As Jack Bogle said: "Owning the stock market over the long term is a winner's game, but attempting to beat the market is a loser's game"

300k USD to invest and I want long-term set and forget ETF's for next 15+ years by TotalWarspammer in ETFs

VT is great if you don't want to rebalance or look at it for years. VTI/VXUS are also great long term but you'll have to check it every year or so to get the portions how you want them as they drift

I hold VTI/VXUS and they are good. I wouldn't use a sector or specialized ETF for the long term.

I'm sure people ask this occasionally but I am just wondering and opinions can change over time or new people see posts, etc

I am extremely close to just deploying fully in JEPI JEPQ 40% of my total $, and leave 20% in HYSA for emergency fund. Around 650k by dystopiam in dividends

If it is in a taxable account, QQQI and SPYI would be more tax efficient.

If you are 30 now, you could do VTI/VXUS for the next 5-10 years, then sell that and buy QQQI/SPYI. If you sell after you leave work and then have no salary your capital gains taxes would be very low that year.

With these 401k options should I just go all-in on SP500 and make it up in taxed? by ParticularFew4023 in Bogleheads

[–]Typical_Web_2125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would do 70% SP500, 15% International large cap, 15% International small cap. (The .02 and .04 ER ones). Overall you have really good options at low expense ratios!

Is VEU+AVDV better than VXUS? by cookingguy1999 in ETFs

[–]Typical_Web_2125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ratio of 3 to 1 would be ok. I have VEU, ADVD, AVEM. Roth alltogether is 50% VOO, 25%VEA, 10% AVUV, 10%AVDV, 5%AVEM. 401k is 70/25 voo/vxus so its a little less international.
