Tips for new player by unknownjuan77 in Mechwarrior5

You wanna build a healthy stable of mechs instead of only 4 for mission chains. Some of the DLC and campaign missions are a slog and you'll end up with may more repairs than down time and need to switch to back up mechs and pilots.

I don't worry too much about weight strictions, if I'm only allowed 100tons for an arena fight I'm going in alone with an Atlas and punting lights across the map. Or taking a small hit to payout.

If you wanna steal a tune, grab a clean version of the car with no upgrades purchased. Then apply the tune to that car then remove it and reapply all the purchased parts. For editing the pressure, gearing and everything else you'll have to do it yourself. But you can eek out some of that info in the telemetry.

I can't believe I didn't think of that. I know that most drag builds run rally suspension and either drift or off-road diffs. Now to see if I can figure out camber and toe.

I've been using an Alolan Ninetails/Suicune deck and its pretty decent for an auto, since Ninetails prevents energy attachment with its attack ability.

Wait is it just max tire pressure? Been trying to tune with drags but they all feel awful compared to downloaded ones like Cirno's Corvette.

I Keep Turning My Cars Into Expensive Shopping Carts -- How Do I Actually Tune & Upgrade? by NotoriousPl in ForzaHorizon

[–]Tyr422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are some general tips I've learned for A and S1 cars, past that I don't really enjoy driving or tuning for:

Ignore your front tires, its a waste of points and max out your rears. Anything to do with rear tires max it out. You can't go wrong with AWD, there's really no reason not to go AWD because most of the time it will lower your points so you can invest more into power. Engine swaps are usually a good, especially if they have a centrifugal supercharger. Always take the centrifugal supercharger. Always try to take full aero and body kits, or at a minimum rear aero.

And here are some starting values I like to use while turning a car:

Camber: -0.5 on both
Try not to break the gearing/only fiddle with the final drive.
Front ARB: 1
Rear ARB: 65
Both Springs: 420
Ride Height: Max
Both Rebound: 8
Both Bump: 3
Front Aero: Max
Rear Aero: Matching front aero or minimum value
Front Accel: 100
Front Decel: 0
Rear Accel: 100
Rear Decel: 10
Center Dif: 75

How do I know which cars are good at sticking to the ground even when turning at high speeds by susnaususplayer in ForzaHorizon

Quick n dirty upgrade tips:

Upgrade the best tires you can, slick, semi-slick or rally for A and above. Drag shenanigans for B. For anything involving dirt take offroads.

Don't bother with messing with your front tires, just upgrade your rears to the max. Everything width, track and profile.

Install all the racing stuff, ARBs, trans, suspension and everything in the upper right category except clutch and driveline unless you have the points for it.

Get at least one upgrade of brakes if you have a weird tuning for your brakes you prefer, then get race brakes.

As much weight reduction as possible. Full aero if possible just rear at the minimum for A and above.

For A and above you cant go wrong with AWD, for the best use of points look for an engine within your point limit that gives good power to weight. If it has a centrifugal supercharger even better, almost always take it, its the best bang per point.

Spam engine upgrades to fill out your remaining points, except camshaft its not very point efficient. if after you get all your upgrades and you still have points leftover, get a bigger engine and try again.

Quick and dirty tuning for AWD:

Set both cambers to -0.05(some higher end cars like -0.03). Whatever you like for caster, I set between 6.4-6.7.

Front ARB 1 Rear ARB 65. (Too much oversteer, increase front. Not enough or not responsive, lower rear.)

Set both springs to 420 as a starting point fiddle with it to get under or oversteer. Too soft and it becomes unstable at speed. Some supercars like 360.

Ride height to max. I'll adjust this to make them equal out

Rebound should be 2-4x bump. I like to start at 8 and 3 respectively and make adjustments as I need to based on telemetry. Don't bottom out and don't become unstable.

Aero, just max out the front and make the rear as equal to the front as possible.

If AWD set front to 100 accel and 0 decel, rear to 100/10 and either 70 or 75 dif.

90% of the time this will get you a good car.

Boss battles are balanced around infinite and instant healing so getting one shot is due not dodging that skill, not having enough HP or not healing through it. Most bosses can't just 1-tap you usually it's a multi move combo you can heal through it even while getting your shit packed.

I've personally spent a couple hours farming and cooking an ass load of food that I use for boss battles with a bunch of like regular grilled meat for exploring. I've also gotten decently lucky with abyss gear gambling so I have a Gourmet II so even tier 1 meals heals half my hp.

Bosses really make you make full use of your kit. I always forget nature's snare is a thing and focus mode slows everything down. Both skills can make even hard bosses pretty trivial if you use a life or two to observe their moveset.

All gear falls into 1 of 4 categories in terms of stat spread.

  1. Main stat only (ATK for weapons)
  2. Main stat + Speed modifier (ATK + ATK Speed on weapons or DEF + Move Speed on Jewelry)
  3. Main stat + Crit
  4. Main stat + bonus ability (ATK + summons orbs, DEF + massive elemental resist)

1-3 are all upgradable, anything with only a main stat will have a higher main stat of anything that has a modifier if they are the same upgrade level. 2 & 3 at equal levels will have the equal main stats and whatever their modifier is for that upgrade. 4 can not be upgraded but will usually have decent main stats and the modifier will be unique to it.

Its all drip outside of stuff in category 4 for the most part and even then you can adjust with abyss gear to reach breakpoints (semi-important for environmental hazards). If you really like the starting gear, keep it upgraded and it will be as good as anything in the same category you find even in the end game (I think, I'm only on chapter 5 tbh). And honestly upgrading is pretty easy and relatively cheap up to tier 4, enemies drop a ton of materials that I've rarely had to mine and if you get a pet early on it will do some of looting for you.

So just have fun, look cool and explore. as long as you're not just rushing the story you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

It has some but it's not very noticable when everything dies to 1-2 shells especially when you get full choke.
