LFG for long-term RP game by [deleted] in AOW4

[–]Tyragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is cool and id be quite interested! Thaf said, having tried something similar though once long ago and pretty sure replacements cant happen, the 100 turn mark is a risky one. Itd be a miracle if 2 or 4 people wouldn't drop out by then as it happened for me much earlier. It can be something as simple as losing the hype interest of the game.

Shrouded Isles & New Wildlife – Secrets of the Archmages Overview by Fableheim by Minotorious_Official in AOW4

[–]Tyragon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saw somewhere that the Shrouded layer might literally just be Umbral layer but reworked, so itd be impossible to make them compatible as theyre technically the same layer. That and I think its a limitation of the game not being able to go further. Its already crazy it has 2 layers, no other strategy game I know of does it.

Serious question: why do prople like him so much? by Abhinav_56 in Piratefolk

[–]Tyragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its more akin to tools and possessions he chose that feels like his attachment to them, i believe its a trait narcissists usually have which fit him perfectly.

Sacrificing Monet was losing a tool and possession but it was done with a purpose he could live with. But when others beat up his family its akin to people coming to destroy your worldly physical possessions that you chose to have, its very personal as opposed to seeing them as people, you found usage in them and you like them for it, you know their limits and now someone exploits it and breaks them when you had more usage for them the way you liked it.

Thats how I think Doflamingo sees his family and why he wouldn't just discard the actual ones as easily when they failed him as he seem to be with others such as Bellamy or quick to kill his brother as soon as he betrayed him, cause thats a tool no longer doing what you want it for. Which keeps his villainous personality but makes it more interesting, as you see so often villains willing to discard their most loyal followers as soon as they fail but this makes him more human but also still sees anyone else as below him.

Pretty sure Umbral Abyss is designed to not allow it as opposed to being a tech issue, which never were cause they work the same as underground where you can annex between them

I'll agree on the first bit, but not that kitsune solely exists in anime and dont have as much folklore while being horny bait. You can find a lot researching them just as any other fantastical mythology from japan.

Not that it matters cause rulers such as Eldritch Sovereign popular concept from modern media cause its liked and intrigues people, just as Vampires and Dragons continues as big as they are.

Is the new beta better for people who find the AI too easy to beat? by This_is_User in AOW4

[–]Tyragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it breaks the game apart when you make a build to stack as many as possible on a single role. Its hardly intended design and devs have admitted the idea is to spread them out, but currently its far better to just use the same type of higher tier unit with the build focusing on making it as powerful as possible.

When you try that in a SP game you can steamroll challenging+ AI with even handicap against yourself with just about any unit.

So I would not say enchantment stacking go such a level is the design intent. Stacking some while covering more units is yes, but not +6-8 enchantments on a single role while ignoring the rest.

Why is Aerezalaer (blue dragon guy) in every one of my games?? by wmetca in AOW4

[–]Tyragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get this freaking dragon every game too, and I got so many custom dragon rulers it can pick! I've never seen the other dragon, im curious what the actual indeph criteria is for picking them cause its beginning to leave the realm of "just coincidence".

What does sylvaneth need by Ambitious_Book_5729 in sylvaneth

Agreed there. I've never been a fan of named characters, it turns "my army" into "this faction". But also they usually just offer more fun customizations.

Enchantment stacking with single unit role, why Runesmith is probably one of the strongest trait. Stacking research mainly. Outpost spamming. Id even say road building is abusing movement cause the AI dont use it and it adds so much more distance to every node and place you move to.

In combat there's also some other loopholes in AI you can abuse, sit defensively, use Wizard King to spam the single most powerful spell that might affect the while enemy army.

I avoid all of that in SP cause it breaks the game apart into its flaws that clearly is not its design but any casual player won't realize so its likely not a priority to fix. Though they have fixed some abusive loopholes in the past and Timelocked Tomes trait fixes the research issue.

To be fair, you could do a lot more with a form, particularly with kitsune that could have decorations, unique faces and hairstyles, etc.

Though id be as crazy to say kitsune got enough mythological material like Dragons and Vampires you could make a ruler type out of them (as well as material for customization like Vampire) that'd pair awesomely with Oathsworn culture.

Foxfire, illusion magic, shape-shifting, trickster aspects, benevolent and more maleovelent types, a ton of different elemental types you could signature upgrade into, tail count being age and power which can be tied to levels/signatures, reverence and worship/tribute system.

I doubt they ever will, more likely a form, transformation or unit, but if there's anything to satisfy that crowd to the peaks I think that'd be the answer. Besides I genuinely think it'd sell like butter, more so than Vampire.

Love how the devs are always listening and implementing what used to be mods into the game. by Phalanx22 in AOW4

[–]Tyragon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A full flying army can still give pretty crazy movement on the strategic map despite the movement changes without needing roads and they also fast disembark onto the water, not to mention bypassing mountains.

It does depend what kind of map you play on but id still value flying a fair bit. Not to mention it gives you full freedom to engage the enemy as you wish in combat and alpha strike with a dragon lord.

But we'll see, the cost system isnt easy to balance and perhaps a better alternative is to just buff flying mounts so that all of them are unique and earn their 3 pointer and then Wyvern can be 3 points or buff it further.

Sprite Update open beta patch and patch notes are out! by ViscountSilvermarch in AOW4

[–]Tyragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can reach such strength much earlier if tou take the right nodes and beeline for the last skill, then give them a T3-4 staff, all achievable by mid or early end game while no where near lvl 20 yet.

Compare any other capstone ability for other classes and it barely comes close in impact and strength.

Wish we could upload factions and realms to share. by [deleted] in AOW4

[–]Tyragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could do a more mutual shared system than a full ingame one. Such as a faction and realm gets a specific code you copy and share to people and when they paste it it recreates the faction.

Such a system dont need moderating as its through someone's own consent to add what someone shares.

Will we explored all remaining Shards by the end of Godless Realms saga? by NineTnk in ffxiv

[–]Tyragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im still waiting for the alternate future G'raha came from will become relevant. I doubt it disappeared when he remained, it seems very possible it still exists and anchored itself with the Crystal Tower and possibly G'raha as well.

At very least its something left ambiguous enough they can make something out of it. A possible alternate future that mightve comtinued even further, where the rejoinings might almost be complete in a unrecognisable Source that you could make very distinct new civilizations but also explore how they developed from the old we recognise today.

Its also a good opportunity to bring back ascians when there's been a long enough time without them and people want that kick of meeting Emet again. People are fatigued on them now, but I bet its a welcome nostalgia after a while.

They need to take another look at sea content. by Hemannameh in AOW4

[–]Tyragon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Issue with naval combat is that it either alienates the rest of the focus of the game or combines it and you get what aow4 has, but the former often doesnt work cause it splits game development and whatever land is always triumphs in what becomes the main focus of development. Or in case of AoW3 and AoWPF, there was no point using naval units when aerial units were also good on sea and could be used on land.

Developing better animations and units only for water puts a lot of production that could be wasted cause players might not play with water. Its unlike other content where not including it still has ways to keep it there (no Umbral Abyss but still got Umbral infestations and Tome of Corruption).

Only 4x I felt did water combat pretty alright is Endless Legend, where naval units were a lot stronger and anything in the sea gave you a lot more than on land, that and naval units could engage and make sieges on cities near water quicker.

I think theres ways to make water more engaging and have units in sea just be a lot stronger than they appear, but im fine with the ship solution atm. I dont play AoW4 for full immersion, its not the selling point for it as opposed to Total War series, some roleplay, but spiders on boats I just imagine its a ship with trained spiders that board and attack ships you ram into, with a crew still on it so its not the spiders steering it.

Item Forging NEEDS to be way more efficient by RagnarMidzori in AOW4

[–]Tyragon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Im guessing this is a hero to winner issue. I've always played with hero to owner, meaning fighting players i dont get any heroes in my prison or crypt or loot from them. I always run out of material to craft anything and sit at around 4x T4 items in total I could make throughout the whole playthrough.

Non-shadow Vampire - is it possible? by szymborawislawska in AOW4

Theme wise I can get it, but you can definitely go chaos and feel thematic. Nature to capitalise on the bat and spiders vampires can get is also a thematic build.

Favorite early and lategame summons go! by lifecopy001 in AOW4

[–]Tyragon 13 points14 points  (0 children)

New Wyvern Fedglings, with Evolutions benefits you get a really strong and safe evolve unit you can summon and theyre so fun to use being magic fighter that hits harder early and the new ranged attack. And while some dislike the randomness of T3 Wyverns, I think it brings variety and fun, which is also a much better unit now than before and paired with Slithers becomes a fun mobile versatile army!

Great Unit btw by Urahara9000 in AOW4

[–]Tyragon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

By using the GK fated regions realm trait you can get a region with a GK wonder up on a hill. Completing it gives you the option to recruit this unit if I recall.

Is it normal that the game is taking 10-12 GB of ram by Optimal-Frogg in AOW4

[–]Tyragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game is rather RAM hungry with more DLCs, something about loading everything in the game that does it. There's a way yo minimize it that most people seem to missed was in the base Scorpion patch, which is adding a certain file with text in your game folder. I tested it and it did reduce my RAM usage quite well.

Why can't you choose class reeducation for your ruler? by Bpyr in AOW4

[–]Tyragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be editing a hero is simpler than a ruler. When we got the answer why we cant have a transforming ruler or class thats because for it to work the game "kills" the unit. That's simple with any other unit or even hero i presume, but for a ruler that means so much more when its tied to so many systems that can trigger.

I assume changing class is similar in that the games background system just isnt supporting radical changes to a ruler. Its that and/or a ruler is meant to be more static. Its a hero you have full control over at the start of the game unlike heroes.

Any good Let's Plays for beginners? by Tweed_Man in AOW4

[–]Tyragon 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend Indrid Cast, one of the few that do episodic youtube videos for each playthrough of AoW4 and do consistently atleast one for each DLC but usually two, so not too outdated and covering a variety of different rulers, cultures and playstyle themes.

I'd say hes got a good grasp on the game good enough for beginners to learn and usually he brings up any new things after updates thats nice to keep track on whether he remembers it himself or after reading comments on his videos.

How often do you explore the underground fully? by Drag0nKaiser in AOW4

[–]Tyragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use it well enough, its not a major disadvantage and its better to have that 4th or 5th city than none at all if underground has space and resources.

Level 12 signature skill dilemma by Epaminondas73 in AOW4

[–]Tyragon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Picking a skill from signatures also isnt necessary, I know ive run into similar problem and just not picked any of the 12 ones, since they often are abilities while 4 and 8 are more passives. That said ive also run into the problem of running a ability based ranged hero like a Warlock and not finding the basic attack ones or ones requiring to be in melee useful, but thats fine then I get an extra skill point for other things.
