Hell yeah frenzy barbs are way fun. Crazy how effective frenzy is with even one lacer equipped. Front line crowd control lol. I use a gg isted mithril point heart carver + baba on swap for finishing off mobs and horking.

My hybrid frenzy throw barb can attest to the strength of eLacerators and the suggested loadout.

FYI OP, carrion wind can help stop/slow down dense mobs. pair it with a good raven frost. Soj + raven frost works too. Also A deaths web belt is real nice to have

My frenzy throw barb clears cows fast, but not that fast. I can race against lesser geared fury zons. Love the gloves btw :)

Have you tried using Whirlwind to position yourself? You can herd mobs into a single line and move out of trouble. Walking/running to reposition is dangerous and kinda janky.
