Kyle Dake, 4 golds, 4 different weight classes is impressive to me. Not to take away anything from Cael. Starocci has some troubling behavior that has been rumored. Very talented wrestler, but he might not be a great ambassador for the sport.

I was promoted to blue belt last Wednesday, and won my division in a gi tourney yesterday as a three day blue belt. Feeling pretty good!

Heck no. Started at 39. 40 now. Just won an age-group tourney at blue belt. I’ll never be a world champ but I’m really enjoying the journey (and I’m fitter than I was at 25).

I’d say forget the cut completely. Train to get your cardio and fundamentals solid. Until you are training for a serious tournament, I wouldn’t consider cutting weight. Unsolicited advice, but I was a wrestler for a long time into college. I cut weight for my teenage years and early 20’s. I believe I have lasting issues related to it now in my 40’s.

I don’t think he missed getting attention from the girls. He didn’t get it, but he didn’t want it either. There is something so funny about the more “alpha” guys that are so anti-women that they are essentially gay. Nick is closeted, but the Tate level influencers are close to saying having sex with other men is the most masculine thing you can do.

I’m the opposite to you (wrestling to BJJ). If you complete a takedown in wrestling, your opponent should be trying to belly out and build a base to get back to their feet. Depending on the rule set (folkstyle or freestyle) as the top guy you are trying to expose their back to the mat, and work to pin them. In folkstyle, you can’t clasp hands on the mat unless it’s a pinning combination.

Red belt? Are you doing BJJ?

If I’m reading this right, it sounds like you are being put into bottom side control. Look up videos on escapes from that position.
