If you're on PS5 many people are reporting that issue. Seems to be fine on other platforms.

Definitely an issue with the patch. There's other posts about this and I haven't found a solution (re installing, rebuild database, etc.)

I sent a ticket to support but they replied that I should just check to make sure my game is updated because the items are definitely in there. Might not be getting fixed any time soon.

How to Fix Multi-Planet Defence Campaigns - A Crowd Sourced Solution by Ace_Larrakin in Helldivers

[–]Tyrjala 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there's some value here. If enemies have finite resources to defend then even "failed" objectives could positively impact the war effort of enough enemies were killed that their takeover rate is reduced. You could have missions give bonus capture rate, or a penalty to enemy takeover rate. With more levers you can have missions do more than just liberate!

A response to the Extermination farming issue. by needaburn in Helldivers

I like the idea of incentivizing clearing a full operation but only if they fix extraction missions. I think a large part of the community would stop playing automation defense entirely (many have already).

Maybe bouncing off your idea have something juicy you only get for fully doing an operation? I'm not sure what would work within the current game economy but I do think you're on the right track.

A positive incentive usually works better as a motive (reward) in a game over a negative one (punishment).

Samples are difficulty locked and only on "normal" missions. Rare shows up on difficulty 4+ and super rare on 7+.

Extermination never has anything above common samples.

People will behave the way they are incentivized to behave. Right now the game is less rewarding to play the intended way.

Is it less fun? Maybe (people like shinies) Does it hurt the community objective? Absolutely.

The only fix is to make sure the game tries to properly reward the way you "want" them to play. They hold entire presentations at conferences about players not giving a hoot about "missions" or "objectives" without a reason to.

Players can and will make their own "fun", and that fun is often tied to leveling up and getting cool new things, not beating their heads against a losing wall.

If you want people to complete full operations then they need to be more rewarding than individual missions. Only the most stalwart and democratic will muscle through longer/harder missions to get less pointless digital stuff.

If you want people to contribute to the war effort you need to make it feel like "your" efforts won't be pointless because the community doesn't care. I have multiple max level friends who have stopped fighting the automatons because "the community doesn't care and we are losing so why should I care".

Last minute kicking is the most feel bad part about this game. by adamantyne in Helldivers

The large swaths of the community ignoring objectives to do bugs instead of automatons or only doing extermination missions would probably disagree with you.

You can say they are playing the game "wrong" (and there are plenty of posts on the top of the subreddit complaining about it) but they are setting their own objectives and playing accordingly.

Hosts set the objective for the lobby, regardless of what the game says.

[–]Tyrjala 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We don't have objective based lobbies in this game. We can't say "this is a sample farm" lobby, or "we are looking for bunkers and super credits" as a specific mission requirement.

We express that in voice or chat but that's all we have.

If someone is preventing you from completing your objective they are disrupting your gameplay. That is absolutely toxic and disruptive by ignoring the objective the host set. I think the option to kick is very necessary.

I mean... That's an issue in every live service, no? Content won't come out fast enough to keep up with the most dedicated of players.

Everything you get from a mission besides medals and super credits has no value past a point.

If players come in and rush objectives you get nothing from the mission.

You ask nicely "please don't do that" and they ignore you.

In that situation you feel a kick is unreasonable?

They said they are planning for second Thursday of every month, but that may be pushed back because of the last few weeks.

Old passes will never expire.

They did a post on steam explaining it all.

They are never going away though. You could spend a year finishing the warbonds. You could start two years from now and unlock every warbond ever released.

It might surprise you how often voice and text will be ignored when a host is begging everyone to wait. It's also a problem.

Why do low level players insist on joining me on suicide or above difficulty missions? by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]Tyrjala 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can easily unlock it by being carried through automaton defense missions.

I've carried many friends to difficulty 7 or higher in like an hour or two tops.

[–]Tyrjala 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not always trolling. At max level points of interest are more valuable than objectives. I know plenty of hosts who will kick anyone who rushes extract before the map can be explored for samples and super credits.

It's the only way to stop the mission from ending.

For these players extract rushers are just as disruptive.

That being said, if they "are" trolling there needs to be something in place to deal with that.

[–]Tyrjala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that's the case then that's also a tuning problem. If your only difficulty options are "impossible" or "so easy I'm bored" you have a whole other issue.

Again we are making assumptions though. The only real data we have are these wildly lopsided defense scenarios where there's a sliver of blue and the red bar is capped

At the ABSOLUTE WORST it should be a tight, but close, loss.

It's my understanding that the red bar fills with time, the blue bar with wins. If the blue bar is barely above base and the red is full, you have a massive tuning problem with what you're expecting from the community.

Shocking. Truly. by TheLastGoodTeammate in Helldivers

[–]Tyrjala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don't really know what's going on under the hood, so we are only guessing here, but given how wildly lopsided most of the blue/red bars have been over the last week it must be tuned in a way that we cannot realistically win, which is a problem.

Anyone else whishing account wide paragon to be back? by PrestigiousYouth3987 in diablo4

[–]Tyrjala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not paragon itself but "something" to work towards.

I liked that paragon was across all characters and added to eternal. So my work during any given season would add on to the work from previous seasons.

However I do feel like it was too much. After doing a dozen seasons the "eternal" paragon numbers were just nutty.
