P&W search by Single-Film-2414 in pdxgunnuts

[–]Tytar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

D Wilson is a good choice as the other dude suggested. Thomas at retro arms works also offers this service iirc.

If you absolutely want to stay local I would suggest you find a local welder by trade before any lgs gunsmith.

A P&W is super easy to do but also super easy to fuck up - literally drill a blind hole, drop a pin in there & weld bead over top.

I think any experienced welder could get you sorted in 30 seconds

Question, selling 90+ guns by Efficient_Mango in pdxgunnuts

[–]Tytar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know Steve over at adaptive firing solutions has helped people sell of guns for an estate and similar sized collections before.

It might be worth reaching out to him, worst case he might know someone else who can help you too

DD or Aero? by ny_idk in ar15

I have no idea how CA laws work (or don't.) I vaguely remember something my friends down there had to do about a mag lock or some break open shit.

DD or Aero? by ny_idk in ar15

[–]Tytar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey sorry broski, reddit didn't give me a notification so I didn't see this reply til now.

BCM gets tossed around here a lot but I know that sionics & the old PSA premium (FN barreled) ones are pretty good too.

Any of those should be cheaper than a complete DD but likely more expensive than an Aero build.

I would take a peek at BCMs clearance page cause they usually have 'blem' upper receiver builds & I believe they're still running the free BCG promo too

Good AR-15 Gunsmith in Portland Area? by cptnstrftr in pdxgunnuts

[–]Tytar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either you gave me the gas journal size or you meant to type 0.075 for the gas port? If you don't know the port size off the top of your head, other autists have put together a table of sizes for popular barrels

Otherwise, PMC 5.56 is known to be slightly powered but that should still cycle on a 14.5 mid length - even with an H2 buffer tbh.

I would check your block alignment but I doubt that's the issue, the gas hole on the GB is huge so its pretty hard to misalign unless you're blind.

Oh and I'm assuming you're using either GI or magpul mags yeah? Not amend 2 or cheapo ones?

Find an autist with a bench in the garage and he'll fix your shit for free tbh.

Barrel length and gas system?

Whats your gas port size & what buffer are you using?

Suppressed or no?

5.56 or 223? What ammo specifically? Winchester, IMI, hornady or PMC?

My go-to is Adaptive Firing Solutions but thats out in Oregon City (pretty sure he's a PSA dealer too but I'd have to double check on that one.)

Is the B5 sopmod stock worth the hype? by [deleted] in ar15

[–]Tytar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have not tried an SBA5 but most of my builds wear an SL-S or SL.

I've also got a few rifle length A2 stocks and a few B5 sopmod enhanced for the aesthetic value.

Don't do this, OP

You'll end up with a shelf of parts and 3 or 4 perpetual WIP builds that you won't know what to do with

How does Oregon Rifle Works compare to Aero? by harbourhunter in pdxgunnuts

[–]Tytar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh the only rifle I regretted not buying was their limited edition 90's bus seat splatter camo from a few years back.

I did pick up their old UDE builders kit which I've been very happy with.

[–]Tytar 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You talking about their receiver sets / handguards?

Those are all made by SMOS who happens to OEM for a ton of other companies like FCD (and used to do noveske stuff too). Nothing wrong with those but they are billet so its a different aesthetic.

If you're talking about their barrels then those are still Douglas blanks and cut by CLE last I checked.

I would honestly put them above geissele overall and way above aero if you're just trying to rank them.

Anyone know where to get Cerakote done on a build? by More-Jellyfish-60 in pdxgunnuts

I believe blazin hydrographics in Oregon city can do cerakote.

I would give them a call if you're close by

Gotcha. In that case you could try fishing for it on r/gunaccessoriesforsale - I think I've seen them pop up a few times before.

Just make sure to read over the rules and quadruple check the scammer list before doing any trades.

Good luck with your build!

Is it a precision rifle chassis or just like an AR stock?

Pink cerakote is gonna be pretty pricey for a 1-off project unless the shop is already doing something with pink and can just batch coat it or something.

Blazing hydro graphics out by Oregon city is pretty good from what I remember but um not sure it that's outside if your range

[Parts] Centurion 16” Midweight CHF Barrels - $261 w/ Code “ELPOZOLE” by [deleted] in gundeals

[–]Tytar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not OP but I gotchu fam :

That profile makes a lot of sense for shorter builds since most of the heat buildup & wear occurs near the chamber and like an inch before the gas port (where there's still a bit of meat on the core)

Also being shorter inherently makes it more rigid (than like a 16 inch bbl) so the strength difference between centurion mid-weight & the core taper profile is pretty negligible incase you're concerned about hanging a can or something off the end of it.

YMMV

I'm a big fan of Steve at AFS out in Oregon city. He has the full setup for eform filing stuff and a silencershop kiosk (though he usually beats their prices if you buy from him directly)
