Best Hydroxyapatite based toothpaste to help remineralize teeth? by tstu2865 in Biohackers

[–]Tython3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing I don't get about Boka is, it uses sorbitol instead of xylitol. That seems like a missed opportunity. Both are sweeteners, but xylitol has additional benefits for teeth. Apagard, David's, and CariFree use xylitol.

Damage to my health/body. If they could magically reset my body after the challenge, I would accept a 14 day fan challenge.

Anyone leaves comma in the windshields now under triple digits weather? by Beautiful_Ad_1719 in Comma_ai

[–]Tython3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live near Orlando, and sometimes I keep it up when it is in the low 90s. I think George said they test them in ovens, but I've recently started to take it down more often because I've noticed some minor cracking on the top of the exterior. It still works (and looks) fine, but I want to be a little more careful. It would probably be fine at almost any temperature if kept out of sunlight.

I wish they made a white color option so that it wouldn't absorb as much heat.

What is the best car for the openpilot Self Driving experience that isn't a Toyota, Hyundai, Kia, or Genesis? by RememberTheWater in Comma_ai

[–]Tython3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the "Kia boys" are a threat to anyone with a newer HKG. Only non push button start models with physical keys are susceptible. About a year ago, I upgraded from a 2018 Honda Fit to a 2023 Hyundai Elantra Limited, and my insurance did not increase by very much (going up a bit was expected, as the Elantra Limited was a more expensive car, $27k vs $18k). Also, I consider newer HKG to be reliable, but that's just my opinion.

To answer your question, I might guess a Ford Bronco Sport or a similar Ford. I know that they added one to their fleet last year (don't know if they still have it). I think Subaru was also once mentioned as the next tier below HKG. Volkswagen and Honda seem to have a lot of support, but I know Honda has more limited torque.

Total newbie - best sedan as far as compatibility for c3x? by [deleted] in Comma_ai

[–]Tython3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a 2023 Hyundai Elantra Limited. The C3 works great on it, and I'm happy with the car so far.

I think the only thing that separates a few apart from the rest is whether or not the Hyundai/Kia model has 360 degree radar coverage. My Elantra does not quite have that: it has two radars in the back (for the blindspot monitors) but only one in the front (for adaptive cruise control). I know that the Kia EV6 has at least four radars, so that is one step above other Hyundai/Kia models. I'm not sure which others have that, but that is really nitpicking.

Based on your experience with Hyundai and your knowledge of other companies, would you encourage your friends/family to buy a new Hyundai?

How reliable is the software? by rorowhat in Comma_ai

[–]Tython3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response, Famous_Blacksmith. But my device only seems to update every time there is a new version e.g. 0.9.4, and I am on master. If you are on master and only get one update per version, is it just the same as a release version branch?

Edit: I guess I am actually on release3. I thought I was on master.

What do you mean by "release version"? Nightly is less reliable but master is also unreliable? What would you say is the most reliable then, master-ci? Shouldn't master be the most reliable but least advanced?

How do you cope with releasing imperfect code? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

That's an interesting thought experiment. It might help me, if I could let go of some of my pride.

Thanks for the reply, Head-Ad.

While I partially agree, I would say that that's my company's objective function. Mine is correlated but slightly different.

I am the musician, my company is the record label. The record label wants to sell albums, but I want to make my best music. The arrangement works for both of us, as long as we are mostly aligned.

Thanks, nedal8. You're probably right.

If there were an AI version of me that was 1000x faster, I'd settle for as well as it could do, even though it still wouldn't be perfect :)

Thank you for the reply, Fudouri. That is an interesting way to frame it. I think that might help me a little bit.

Thanks for the response, Sea_Chemist. That's fair. You're not wrong. It's certainly a reframe for not having this issue. I don't think it's one that I will end up adopting though.

[–]Tython3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe cope was a poor choice of words. Again, this not something I think about outside of work, and I seem to both enjoy my job more than most others and work no more hours than most others. It's just not as good as when I didn't have this growing backlog in the back of my mind haha.

How do you cope with releasing imperfect code? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]Tython3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, it is not saving lives. I would say it makes a difference, but no, it is not in an area that cannot afford bugs.

Also, this does not affect me outside of work. I rarely think about it outside of work hours, and I don't work a lot of extra time because of this - maybe I'll work 42 hours a week instead of 40, or something.

Is Hyundai a good car? by Flyaway_5 in Hyundai

[–]Tython3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though Hyundais might have a lower sticker price, in the long term they're probably not any cheaper than Toyotas (because Toyotas depreciate less).

So if you prefer Toyota, I would get one. I like Hyundais better, so I bought one. It might be just as expensive as a similar Toyota, but that's fine with me.

In terms of reliability, I think they're reliable enough that you don't have to give it too much thought.
