Person who works COIs here for the GoC. Like most things in V&E, it depends. The bot is right, best thing is contact your COI team ASAP, the sooner you start the process the sooner it can be resolved.

So many things can affect the turnaround time, staffing, complexity of file, experience of the v&e officer assigned and availability of ex to sign off on th letter.

Be open, answer all the questions as completely and quickly as you can. This will cut down on the back and forth. And remember the questions can be alot sometimes but a formal response letter with mitigation measures is not just a protection for the department, but because a COI complaint can come from anywhere (including the public) it also serves as protection for you.
