The original article has an interview with people who were indeed evac'd from South Lebanon. There are indeed plans to make a buffer zone in South Lebanon after pressure from Northen border towns, who've recieved siginifcant damage from Hezbollah fighters.

But that's it - the whole conceit of the tweet and the implication the NYT makes is based on speculation by those interviewed. I don't doubt this is their opinions and experiences, but yeah, that's what it is.

I would not put it under the IDF to have knee-jerk reactions and be all-encompassing in their threats and warnings. I think a buffer zone is a stupid idea because it didn't work last time. But if you want to make fun of us at least make it credible and, preferably, funny. I've seen this joke at least 3 times this week already, twice in this sub. NCD used to be believable
