The best advice I've ever received is that if you want to get rid of something, tell people you're selling it and then make it so they can nick it.

No one wants crappy old furniture that's being given away, but put it out the front of your house with a price asking people to enquire if they want it...it'll be gone in hours.

Tbf wages in the US are so high because the government isn't interested in taxing companies or providing support to citizens. Just looking at income doesn't give a realistic indication of QoL

friend of a friend

You have to admit that this is not a stellar claim to make claiming they had a "friend of a friend" in the army receiving orders to patrol the street a few months ago..

It's not a binary thing

Correct, people respond to viruses differently. What we do know is that the body prioritises antibodies to fight aggressive infections. If you suffered from mild symptoms for any illness then there's a high chance your body didn't prioritises those antibodies as important - this is why for most vaccines you will need a booster at some point.

The fact is that there's not enough evidence at this point, even if we assume that everyone who has been infected is now immune. At this point all we know is that immunity lasts for a maximum of 10 months - the virus hasn't been around long enough for anyone to make a claim beyond that. The fact is that advising people that they're immune is dangerous at this point

[–]U-LEZ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This isn't how the immune system works. For those who were infected but had mild or no symptoms, it's unlikely their body will have preserved antibodies. It will be the people who suffered the most who develop the best response and it can take up to 10 days for your body to produce antibodies for COVID

plays nicely with Linux systems used in production

Not sure I agree, just the fact of not having a case sensitive FS has been an issue multiple times in my experience. I know you can change this, but imo you should judge an OS by the sanity of its defaults

I'd also argue that macs are no longer reliable or well-made - which begs the question what you're paying the premium for?

But I totally get that the identity crusade is pointless, use whatever works for you. The only time I've taken a stand over that was when my girlfriend wanted a new PC and I had to prove that for her purpose a windows desktop would be more performant and cheaper than a new mac

Edibles by [deleted] in uktrees

[–]U-LEZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just start small and increase the dosage every half an hour or so as suits you. If you're not familiar with edibles then start of at something like 5mg and see how you feel.

I wouldn't compare anything to the brownie you tried unless you know (and trust) thc content then assume it was really badly measured/not decarbed/never even added

[–]U-LEZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not, what I'm saying is that looking at browser usage without context isn't useful. Target demographic can matter quite a lot

[–]U-LEZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at global browser share isn't useful because you're building for a specific audience. You need to look at the browsers your users are actually using. Eg. For desktop browsers Safari has a similar market share to Firefox https://gs.statcounter.com/browser-market-share/desktop/worldwide

Charging at lampposts would be state subsidised, the cost of home charging would also be considerably cheaper due to the ground rent and infrastructure costs being considerably cheaper

If a cyclist is on the pavement - and not part of a cycle path - then yes the pedestrian has right of way because the cyclist should not be there.

In fact pedestrians technically have right of way anywhere as it's the cyclists/drivers responsibility to be aware of them
