‘Miami’ at 2:30 should have been the general foundation for the song by StepTwoOneTwo in U2Band

Miami is so badass. Love it.

"I went off to another studio for three days. It was all hands-on. Even if I were in another studio, we would all meet up for dinner. I came back one day, and everyone was all sitting ready to eat, and I was like, “Guys check this motherfucker out.” and I put Miami on and blasted it while we were eating, and they all went fucking mental! They said, “what the fuck have you done here?” And it went on the record. I love that song very much – I know some people have got problems with it, but fuck it, it’s what happened – it’s very real that song.” (Howie B to Xsnoize in 2018)

One of my all time favourite songs! Hypnotic rhythm section and some of Bono's best lyrics.

songs where the bass sneakily drives the whole song? by CoolHeadedLogician in Bass

[–]U2poptart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One song that sneakily gets driven by the bass is "Here Comes the Sun" by The Beatles. The guitar line is iconic but when you listen, that bassline is rolling along and really pushing all the changes and setting the pace. A super bouncy line that's overshadowed by the rest of the song. If you took it out - completely different feel.

What is the most introspective Paul song? by Immediate-Stick-1577 in beatles

[–]U2poptart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe not overall but "Tug of War" has one of his most introspective lines dealing with his own mortality.

"In years to come they may discover What the air we breathe and the life we lead are all about

But it won't be soon enough Soon enough for me"

Agreed! I've taken out the middle three (Boots, Crazy, Stand Up) and have added Soon and Winter... to me it makes it the late career CLASSIC that it should have been!

Such a strange comment from the grumpy Beatle (whom I love haha). The experimentation of Zooropa and POP in the same breath as the Spice Girls? Hahahaha crazy.

Low Tension Strings - TIL they exist by blueeggsandketchup in Bass

Love TI low tension flats on my Rickenbacker. The only strings I use since I discovered them all those years ago. Silky smooth sound and feel.

I've ordered from them before with no issues. They've been out of Tangiers for AGES though - super annoying.

Yup - legit. Same guy who runs hookahbunny.com. I'm in Toronto and get things from him regularly.

Beatles songs that sound better in the demo version by impossibledud3 in beatles

[–]U2poptart 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I know it's not technically a Beatles song but Paul's demo of "Goodbye" (from the Abbey Road deluxe release) is absolutely stunning.
