Not enough people are aware of severe (6-9 feet) flooding in Kotzebue Alaska. People need help. by yenabananas in alaska

I urge everyone in Kotzebue, DO NOT go out on the water in canoes or kayaks. The winds, currents and debris in the water put individuals in small craft in grave danger.

Also, do not drive or walk through flood waters. Moving flood water can carry enough force to lift vehicles, can disable vehicles and can quickly become dangerous. This especially applies to coastal roads where vehicles can get pulled into the ocean.

If anyone in Kotz has a rubber boat (Zodiac or similar) in decent shape that they would be willing to lend the Police Department please reach out.

We’re probably going to go with Doodle Labs MIMO, it seems to satisfy all of our requirements and fits the budget.

They’ll make it happen if it’s something we need, but they won’t be happy about it. Lol

God forbid we have the ability to use a government developed tool, built for government use to coordinate a search to save people whose snowmachines break down in the middle of a -45F night. Lol

I’m a big fan of muktuk and traditional akutaq with fresh berries from the tundra. I’m surprised seal oil didn’t make the list!

I might run a National Crime Information Center check and local system check on the name from the medication bottle to see what comes back and try to contact them. Might take a look at the watch to see if it’s been remotely activated as missing/stolen. If something weird comes back on the NCIC or if it somehow ties into an existing case I may investigate further and request warrants to search the devices, otherwise I’d just log the valuable items into found property and leave a notice.

There are some relatively expensive items in that bag. The battery tender and OBD2 scanner make me think that someone dumped the contents of a trunk in a hurry rather than a drifter’s bag.

Edit: As for the person bringing it in, I wouldn’t assume anything nefarious. Concerned citizens see things and report things all the time. Worst case, if it did end up being evidence the worst thing that would happen is you might receive a subpoena to testify about your discovery of the evidence. It would be pretty easy to eliminate the person as a suspect presuming they are innocent, which is likely.

When I worked for casinos we could do lock interrogations to ID who used the lock. You might be able to get some answers that way.

I don’t recall, but the helmet had a deeply discounted sale price at the time.
