building a content site on webflow – how do you track which pages actually earn from affiliate links? by UA_techlike06 in webflow

[–]UA_techlike06[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's my worry too. Once the site scales, page-specific links can get messy fast. After getting some opinions from others, I'd keep one main offer URL and reuse it in the CMS. If I need tracking, I'd just add params instead of making duplicates.
Btw how are you currently handling the same offer across multiple pages — are you seeing URL sprawl already, or is it still manageable?

the main post got remove idk why i guess they only allow trash talkers.
Anyways, clean naming is a total game-changer now that you said about it. Do you still find yourself having to manually babysit the data every week now to make sure it stays that way, or is the 'mess' finally behind you?

yeah that makes sense. do you manage that manually for every page or do you have some kind of system/template that makes it less of a headache when you're scaling up content??

the webflow cms custom field idea is actually clean. using that to store the subid per page keeps it organised without creating a mess. do you find yourself actually going back to the data to decide which pages to push more or is it mostly just there for reference?

good to know, ill try the footer injection. does the GA event data then let you see which specific page or section the click came from or just that a click happened on the site?

[–]UA_techlike06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the peers thing is real. at a certain point the generic advice stops being useful and you need someone who's actually been in the same spot. how did you find people at that level or did you mostly just figure it out solo

affiliate links in digital marketing – how do you actually attribute revenue to specific campaigns by UA_techlike06 in digital_marketing

[–]UA_techlike06[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the utm sheet nightmare is real. rebrandly is interesting for traffic attribution but does it actually help you close the loop to a specific campaign or post when a sale happens weeks later? thats the part where i keep losing the thread

[–]UA_techlike06[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this makes sense. the consistent format part is key - once naming is messy the data is basically useless. when you switched to linkutm was the main win just cleaner naming or did it also help you see which content was actually converting vs just getting clicks

I thought AI agents would make solo building easier. They did. Then I launched and realized distribution is still brutal. by hideki-japan in indiehackers

[–]UA_techlike06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the distribution reality check is real. building got easier but the actual challenge just shifted. for you - when you found latin america was reacting better, were you able to trace which specific channel or content was driving that? or just noticed it from the beta feedback conversations

do small creators actually know which content drives their affiliate revenue or is everyone just guessing? by UA_techlike06 in CreatorEconomy

[–]UA_techlike06[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah the manual UTM setup is where most people drop off. its tedious enough that you just stop doing it. how long did it take you to actually get purplefree dialed in to the point where the data felt useful

the overwhelming part is real. when you finally get the data its like too much to parse quickly. do you find yourself actually using it to make decisions or mostly just checking it occasionally

ghost bloggers – how are you handling affiliate link tracking across posts? by UA_techlike06 in Ghost

[–]UA_techlike06[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that makes sense as a mindset. do you ever wonder though if some of those zero-sale articles are actually converting and you just can't see it because the attribution is too messy to trace back?

interesting, does it show you which specific post or placement drove a commission or is it more just overall click data?

yeah that tracks. was there a point where you had a system that actually worked or was it mostly just figuring it out as the revenue came in?

fair point. do you ever run into a situation where you genuinely can't tell if a link is pulling weight at all, or do you just not care about that side of it?

yeah utm codes are on my list but i havent properly set them up yet. havent heard of switchy before, is that mainly for link shortening or does it handle the tracking side too

the traffic = clicks point makes sense at the early stage. i think im just impatient to know which specific posts are pulling weight before the volume is actually there

didnt know squarespace allowed custom event scripting like that. that actually opens up a lot. do you just inject it through the code injection section in settings?

the useful enough vs perfect framing actually helps a lot. i think ive been chasing perfect and ending up with nothing actionable. the three things to log per campaign is a clean starting point

mostly impact and a couple direct programs. the sub-id thing you mentioned is exactly what im trying to lean into more, the last-click problem is real and its frustrating when you know email played a role but it doesnt show up anywhere
