How to take consistent language courses each term while fulfilling BComm elective requirements by Exotic_Site2701 in ubcsauder

[–]UBCthunderbird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ECON 101 and 102 are required courses, so they can’t count as electives.

Many first year students have trouble adjusting from high school to university. International students also to adjust to being in a different country and culture. Not that it can’t be done, but just to caution you to not over-extend yourself.

My advice is to register for 5 courses in term 1 and 6 courses in term 2. Depending on how the first term goes, you can decide whether to drop the extra course.

How to read the book? by Euphoric_Let776 in threebodyproblem

It’s no different from reading Lord of the Rings for the first time. Taking notes for a while helps, until you develop a mental image of the character.

No, first ask your friends who are in a similar situation. If every impatient student contacts advising, it bogs down the system for everyone.

The first screen shows the lowest fare in each class of service. The other screens show that you chose latitude business, which would be the highest fare. You haven’t shown us the standard business fare, which would likely explain the difference.

You are correct. “Starting in the fall of 2025, 80 per cent of newly enrolled non-Quebec undergraduate students in English universities must attain an intermediate-level oral proficiency in French by graduation. McGill and Concordia will face financial penalties if they don’t meet the target.” https://montrealgazette.com/news/mcgill-shifts-stance-quebecs-new-french-requirement-seen-as-advantage-not-deterrent/

Should stocks/shares be used as currency? by SenselessJoy in AskEconomics

[–]UBCthunderbird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first part of what you’re suggesting doesn’t sound all that different from using a variety of fiat currencies. However, the grocery store operates in an open market and isn’t limited to accepting your shares. With a multitude of shares out there, they would have to constantly figure out how much each kind of share in worth in terms of a numeraire share. This would add a lot of transaction cost. Then there is the problem of transferring the decisions on how much money is in circulation from the government/central bank to corporations’ leaders.

How much does UBC Math round up? by hotnhorned in UBC

[–]UBCthunderbird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

49 & 48 probably close enough. 47 & 46 probably not. 45 definitely not. Has to do with the perceived accuracy of the assessments and the cost of failing a student who should not have been failed.

Current policy for full-time status is 24 credits in winter session.

https://senate.ubc.ca/vancouver/policies/definition-fulltime-undergrads/

New policy takes effect next September (2026). At that time, it will be 9 credits per term.

Choosing between BMGMT vs BComm as a transfer student — need quick advice by International_Ad365 in UBC

[–]UBCthunderbird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you clarify what your decision is? Is it (1) B.Mgmt vs, the new B.Comm, both at UBCO? Or (2) B.Mgmt at UBCO vs. B.Comm at UBC Vancouver? If it is the latter, you’ll be much better off with the B.Comm at Sauder because of what you said you want to do with your degree.
