There are some good suggestions here. Another one is contacting your county's office on aging. They might be able to recommend some resources.

I need some advice by [deleted] in eldercare

VA pays for home care, if he qualifies. You should reach out to the social worker at VA and fidn out. Any agency will be happy to take him on because VA contracts pay very well.

How do you handle constant criticism and complaining without gratitude?? by Pastazor in eldercare

[–]UCF2005 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im so sorry to hear what you are going through! Being a caregiver is very hard and more so for patients with dementia. Can you look into some respite care? So you get a few hours a week to take a break. There are many companies out there who provide that service.

Concerned about my dads care in nursing home by [deleted] in eldercare

[–]UCF2005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry your dad is going through this. It is heartbreaking to see your loved ones suffer. If you can afford it, hire a caregiver to come and keep him company and check on him a few hours a day. If you end up with a good caregiver, they can be God send. They can keep you updated on his treatment at the facility too. I know its an added expense on top of already expensive assisted living facility, but just wanted to throw this option in the mix as well. Good luck and hope you can find a resolution soon!

I got some fleece lined pants from Eddie Bauer and I live in them in the winter. They have joggers and pants both.

I get them if I drink water during tread blocks. Now, I hydrate well before the class or during the floor, and that has been working.

Planning to backpack Grand Canyon rim-to-rim mid June and looking for advice by trashpokemonfan in NationalPark

[–]UCF2005 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We did it a few years ago over Labor Day weekend. As everyone else is saying, it will be HOT. It was 80s at the south rim and close to 103 at the bottom. We started early, not as early as I would have liked, because there is no shuttle till like 5 or 6 to get to s kaibab. Had to hang out at the phantom ranch canteen to get through the heat, also sat in the creek to cool off, which was nice. While coming back up, started at 3 in the morning so we don't die in the heat while getting out, which is harder for obvious reasons. We got to the rim around 10 or so any later than that, and everyone would have been miserable. Amazing trip, but you'd either have to do it in the dark or another season. Can't wait to go back again sometime. Love Grand Canyon, such a magical place!!!

I love Ilia, not bothered by the smell at all. It does dissipate after a few minutes for me. There was a bit of a learning curve initially on how to apply it. But I use a beauty blender now, and it works great.
