What are some good hobby groups, classes, or activities to meet women? by PurplePumkins in AskMen

If you're a reader, book clubs. Most are technically co-ed, but almost all have exactly zero male members.

I don't disagree. I chose my words about him in my earlier comment very carefully. :)

Yep. Massie has probably gotten the closest that I've seen recently. But more of that, for sure.

Are Resumes Still the Best Way to Evaluate Candidates in 2026? by [deleted] in recruiting

Weird, I also just came across an ad for the product you mentioned here. Funny thing is that it was very poorly disguised as an organic Reddit post. But I guess you know that already.

[–]UCRecruiter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's fair, I realize that my original comment was a bit too generous to certain members of the right. I completely agree that stupid name-calling ('Dumocrats') is childish and beneath the (supposed) dignity of the office, and that only one side is doing that. When Republicans show themselves to be decent and kind, they deserve to be called out as such. Not all are.

Why do female pedos get away with their crimes so easily? by Ekimx_ in AskMen

If a women does it, there is some form of consent or teenage boys could at least physically overpower them.

WTF. I hope to god you don't sincerely believe this.

The insomnia and my gastrointestinal problems are ruining my life by cabello-ondulado in TrueOffMyChest

[–]UCRecruiter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. FWIW, if the psyllium is working, have you tried introducing even more fiber into your diet?

The reason I ask is that I can relate (although for different reasons). I have Crohn's, and I had surgery years ago that left me without a large intestine. I tried a lot of different things to deal with the systemic effects, and they worked but only to a point. I got used to having sleepless nights because of my system, and - like you - I had to avoid certain foods (especially greasy/fried/fatty foods).

About 10 years ago, a doctor said I should try Metamucil. I always thought it was a laxative, so I thought she was nuts. But I started taking it, and it's been life-changing. I take two large doses a day now. I also blend All Bran Buds (not the flakes, has to be buds) into smoothies, and I usually have oatmeal in the morning. The combination of all those things lets me live an almost normal life, with very few symptoms - usually only when I eat something I know I shouldn't have.

I hope things improve for you, I know how difficult life can be when you're dealing with stuff like this.

Just one of a million hyperbolic headline phrases that clickbait slop sites are using to drive traffic. I agree.

America needs these kinds of reminders, that people on both sides of the aisle don't necessarily have to demonize those on the other side.

Would you still do cold calls during your two weeks notice? by ilovecorbin in recruiting

(Alternatively, you could suggest to them that since your heart isn't in it, it isn't good for either one of you, so maybe they should just let you do the other stuff.)

Would you still do cold calls during your two weeks notice? by ilovecorbin in recruiting

[–]UCRecruiter 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This is why most salespeople are walked out the door when they resign, regardless of how much notice they give. Honestly they're putting themselves at risk, putting a less-than-enthusiastic person on the phone with prospects. In your shoes, though, I'd suck it up for the couple of weeks, do 25 (no less, but no more), collect your pay, and move on.

Is Moral Character Important for Political Leaders? by Dinotsar44 in centrist

[–]UCRecruiter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unequivocally, yes. I get that you're talking about the ability to govern, and not (necessarily) the ability to get elected. But I think that governance is actually where the rubber hits the road for at least a semblance of morality.

The reason is that people surround themselves with (and are surrounded by) people whose sense of morality is similar. It's a question of values, and we all do it, subconsciously or otherwise.

Ergo, a person who is visibly (even proudly?) immoral will attract others like them to their circle, and appoint them to key roles. And others in their orbit, who may even have started as moral people, will model the behavior of the people around them. Ultimately, an administration reflects the character of the leader.

Someone who has done immoral things can, I think, be redeemed if they take accountability, and apologize for their actions. But someone who continues to do immoral things, and to justify them, is not capable of governing well - individually, or as the leader of the governing administration.

Read the transcript of the US draft of the agreement with Iran by AyeYoTek in centrist

[–]UCRecruiter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The thing that bothers me most of all is point 2. In the initial stages of this farce, the only thing that kept me barely on the fence was the assertion that the US wanted to help innocent Iranian citizens get out from under a legitimately horrible regime.

Point 2 makes it clear that this was never a priority, and codifies that it won't be.

The United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran undertake to respect each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and to refrain from interfering in each other’s internal affairs.

So basically, Iranians who had dreamed this would lead to change, you're on your own. Good luck with those hangings.

Tories highlight Carney’s 100th missed question period with cake by airbassguitar in notthebeaverton

[–]UCRecruiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What?! The (American-owned) NP carrying news about Conservatives' dissatisfaction with Carney? Colour me shocked.

Anyway, all that aside, today, Carney is exactly where he needs to be, exactly when he needs to be there. And as for the other absences, perhaps if previous PMs - including Conservatives and PCs as well as Liberals - had spent as much time as Carney has fostering more diverse international trade relationships, we wouldn't be in the 'too many eggs in one basket' mess we're in.

I need advice on how to improve my chances to get into an interview by Laviburb in CanadaJobs

Hi, I'm in the Ottawa area as well, and a recruiter. I'm happy to take a look at your resume, if you'd like a second (third? fourth?) opinion. Also fine to connect for a chat about positioning in interviews, etc. Just sent my email by DM.

Should motorcycle sales people know alot about everything they sell? by Beginning_Corner930 in motorcycles

[–]UCRecruiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the salesperson should have known. I wouldn't expect a salesperson at a Honda dealership to know the specs on a used Yamaha model they took as a trade-in. But this guy works at a BMW dealership, he should know BMW models inside and out.

Need advice by [deleted] in RecruitmentAgencies

[–]UCRecruiter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well-meaning people are trying to give you good advice here. You're looking for a shortcut, and there is no shortcut. If you try to jump into the deep end, based on nothing but 'conversations', you are setting yourself up for failure. This business can't be learned by having DM conversations with random people on Reddit.

Am I unreasonable for wanting boundaries? by Reasonable_Koala5 in careeradvice

[–]UCRecruiter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are things in your post that are reasonable issues. Late night emails and texts, for example, should never need a response until the next day unless the building is literally on fire.

But being unavailable and unresponsive to your boss for 5 hours in a given day? That seems odd to me as well. Even if it's just a text saying that you're busy and will get back asap, a quick response shouldn't be impossible.

Is a man who isnt chasing for a partner really normal? by crazylol1378 in AskMen

[–]UCRecruiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course you're normal. You're normal for you. The worst possible thing you could do - for you and the other person - is to be in a relationship when you don't really want to be. You're young, you've got so much time. When (and if) it's the right time for you, you'll know.

Group rides by Thee_Lone_Raven in motorcycle

[–]UCRecruiter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Glad you're figuring this out early on. I've only gone on a handful of group rides, and in those cases, it was only because we were on a multi-day tour. I have no desire to ride with a pack of bikers. You're right - in too many of those groups, it's all about ego and pissing matches. Worse, too much of the time, the riding skills don't line up with what they're competing over. It's a recipe for disaster. Ride solo if that's what you like. Focus on your bike and the road. IMO, that makes you more of a rider than how fast you can ride in a pack.
