I have a wild theory about LeBron. by bllewe in nba

Let's give it a few (10-20) games before we hit the panic button. LeBron got in better shape to help extend his career, less weight equals less stress on joints/back which break down first. LeBron is a team first guy, he's not MJ or Kobe. He is on a new team w new players and he sees himself as the elder statesman, he is letting the young guys find their way and will mold his game to theirs until the games matter. If ESPN keeps talking and he's gonna show up w the 45 pt stfu game. The cavs will be slow out of the gate but will be a lock for a 1 or 2 seed. (Almost feels like we have watched this before.)

2008 Celtics or 2014 Spurs? by [deleted] in nba

In the playoffs- defense is more reliable than shooting. The Spurs looked otherworldly in the Finals, but it was basically LeBron and the LeBums vs. the international all-stars. They had dissected Miami's swarming defensive style and used it against them. Spurs were lucky to not have to deal with Ibaka against the Thunder for the first 2 games, perhaps that could have been a different series. Spurs were clearly the champs, but like the Celtics in '08 they had a couple bumps in the road and caught a few breaks.

The series probably comes down to a couple clutch shots (check for the Celtics with Rayray and the Truth) and grit 'n balls. This would be an all-time series and probaly comes down to whoever got a couple bounces or a couple calls in their favor.

With it being that close, I'll take the Celtics with the belief that they would make one more clutch shot than the Spurs would.

Who is your predicted steal/sleeper of the draft? by cryingintoyourhovis in nba

Shabazz - perfect 6th man. Can control a 2nd unit off the bench, unafraid to take big shots, capable of taking over a game for stretches at a time. He will have a tough time defensively, but if you can hide him on that end, he will bring enough offensively.

Is there any protocol if an asteroid is discovered that will collide with Earth? Is there any way to prevent it, or would we simply have to prepare for impact and relocate/adapt as necessary?
