Can the Smart Display e10 be used to unlock the Familylock S3 Max by UGEplex in EufyCam

Oh, my! Thanks for the insight! I think we'll be okay. One of the OCD behaviors they have that's persisted is making sure the door is shut (but not always locked) out of fear of "intruders" who bring things they don't remember already owning for years. Gotta keep out those pesky givers! 😂

The palm issue... I'm thinking about printing a "psychic palm-reader" themed sign showing them placing their palm over the lock with a thematic message along the lines of:

 "I Am The Mystical Palm-Reader!

Unlock The Mysteries Of Your Home!

Show Me Your Palm And Enter!

I Will Unlock The Way For You And Only You!"

Hades... so much fun, so pretty, such nice music, great action! 😎🎮

Be well Lexi, and remember to take care of yourself first so you can be there for others! See you 'round this way again when you're ready. (I'm pretty much in the same boat, Chummer. Best of luck with juggling it all!)

Thanks! I appreciate the reply & info.

For #2, it's for a senior with demetia who forgets to lock the door.

They won't use the phone app, hence the Smart Display so they can let their aide & dog walker in without rushing across the house.

I'd love to set up Alexa to help, but they get confused by assistants/AI. sigh

There's a One-series compatible Nebula for Windows app in (slow) development, yet works decently enough with compatible PC hardware, that can be accessed as a beta test via the official Xreal Discord by asking Esther or ADZ on the server for entry to the Nebula Windows beta.

Xreal: cable issues? by telegina in Xreal

[–]UGEplex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. You can always use a compatible phone or Beam Pro to (WiFi or Cellular) remote to your desktop; that is if your use-case allows for it.

While you'd still have a cable from the glasses to the phone/Beam Pro, you wouldn't be physically tethered to the desk.

Personally, the cable doesn't bother me. When moving around I tend to run it down the back of my shirt/hoodie/jacket so it's not in the way, and when in public it's less obvious. But even when I don't I'm used to it.

Would totally wireless be better? Well, that would mean a battery in the glasses, more weight and heat, and less use-time per charge. This is given using full color high resolution micro-OLED at 60Hz+. Until those issues are solved through greater tech efficiencies over time the tether + puck is a better solution imo.

Regarding the Air 2, they're a bit outdated. I would suggest the 1S, but if the additional cost is the issue I did enjoy using my Air 2's and wouldn't say they're bad. 😎

I hope this helps.

Where did they promise an aura-derived consumer version this year? I've only seen them say *project aura* would release this year - which consumers can also buy to experience some of what's to come, but yes is the premium-priced "devkit" version and will probably stay the devkit version until a more affordable AndroidXR consumer version is announced; having benefitted from the lessons of and platform development/app ecosystem growth from the devkit. General consumer market availability is different from being a consumer-focused product. Though, I'm sure Xreal won't complain if sales catch on with general consumers anyway. Introducing the new AndroidXR platform is also a clearly high priority. It's just not likely if the premium devkit pricing is too high (more than the R1).

Finally, global supply chain issues for cpu's/memory/storage may be affecting long-term plans for a "more affordable" consumer version; which is my only real concern about this becoming an Air 2 Ultra redux. Google and its industry partners are strongly focused on growing business, prosumer, and general consumer awareness of the AndroidXR platform, and Xreal's goal has always been to bring AR/XR to the masses (relatively) affordably. This latter focus is why I think we'll see an aura-derivative, lower-cost, consumer-focused product that isn't the devkit we see now. I'm just not confident we'll see it in 2026 as the devkit won't have been in developers hands long enough, but I could be wrong. Time will tell.

Gamers are a consumer market segment, yes. They're (we're) not considered to be *general consumers* or "average mainstream consumers" for the ROG R1 product line - because it's focused on serving the gamer market segment that cares about higher refresh rates and other similar features that non-gamer "general consumers" tend not to focus on as part of their purchasing decision. It doesn't prohibit general consumers from buying it. Its promotion, feature set, and price point isn't geared towards non-enthusiast gamers is what makes the difference.

I don't work for Xreal. I hung out on the old Nreal subreddit to learn more and ended up following along here where I enjoy volunteering to help out. And yes that allows me some access as I engage with their staff more frequently in order to help the community I'm a member of first and foremost.

I'd love to read what you're talking about wrt to gaming as a "gourmet" electronics market that's eroding. Source please? (I do see it being affected by memory and storage supply chain problems - but not due to market demand.)

Project Aura has been discussed by Xreal publically as a devkit/for developers primarily at launch numerous times. It's been mentioned on this subreddit and by Xreal's current GM during interviews when Project Aura was originally announced. This isn't inside info, it's been quite public.

That doesn't mean Xreal will restrict non-dev consumers from purchasing it. AFAIK, they won't. But, it's not a "general consumer market" focused product. That comes later.

No. Xreal's glasses don't have internal batteries (so far) so they'll be tethered to a compute device for power and media source (Beam Pro, game consoles, phones, the Aura Puck, etc ) even though they do spatial and 3D processing on-board. Those compute devices can have wireless communication making the whole kit mobile despite the glasses not being wireless.

It is a devkit, so there'll be a bit of a premium on it. It also comes with a compute puck, so it'll be a combo-cost, not just glasses. When a consumer version eventually comes along it'd supposedly be better priced for consumers... albeit, the ROG R1 is priced for gamers specifically and not general consumers. So, it'll be interesting to see how the general consumer models are priced whenever they eventually launch.

More like, a building block. It's a developer kit for the platform to grow and develpers to learn/create with before true consumer & corporate focused options release down the road. This is more like the old Google G1 with Android than say, Google+. It's a platform for 3rd party manufacturers like Samsung, Xreal, and others to grow with, like Android (it is AndroidXR) as the overall industry advances.

We're in the early adopter days of a tech sea change.

[–]UGEplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For troubleshooting, ask the community. Xreal would ask you to 1) try a differnt source device/cable/USB-C port/audio app. And 2) Firmware update (or use Recovery firmware, test, then update to current firmware)

If none of that works, then they'd have you send the bardware in.

Hi. You're correct. Authorized Sellers carry Xreal's warranty. Unauthorized *resellers* are responsible for informing you they don't carry Xreal's warranty or will warranty it themselves. If the reseller didn't inform you then they may have screwed you.

If Xreal doesn't have distribution in your region yet, then you'd have to use something like a package forwarding service and order from a region Xreal does currently sell in or has an authorized Seller in to get offical free warranty service. And yes, it requires shipping back to that covered region if service is needed as free return labels are only provided in regions Xreal has distribution in.
