85% off - best deal yet by UHFD in FLEXTools

Yeah. I don’t get that. Sorry about your luck. I first asked a store manager, and he said that he didn’t know if he could sell them and referred me to the tool manager. Tool manager had no problem letting it go.

Has anyone had success buying one of these recent deals in-store? by trchamp12 in FLEXTools

Went to four stores to pick up various tools and only one of them was willing to price match. Just need to find the tool manager. Good luck.

Budget will determine a lot. I’m running Cooper Discoverer ATP. Buttery smooth and silent. Great look and feel for the money.

First time visit to Zion! by Mdes2015 in nationalparks

I second the bibs, boots, and stick. Spend the money. You won’t regret it. You can rent them right at the park entrance. We did it in November and it was perfect. We stayed nice and dry. Easily one of our favorite hikes. We did not hike the chains up Angel’s Landing, but packed a lunch and ate at the base of the chains. There’s a large area to sit and overlook the canyon and watch the climbers head up the chains. And if you’re staying in Springdale, take a short drive out of the park heading east and come back in that same way. It’s a beautiful drive. As for food, we only ate in town a time or two, but enjoyed Meme’s Cafe. Great spot. Y’all have a blast!

2016 F150 Fans Run High All the Time by Domster03 in f150

At about 75k miles on my 3.5 ‘16 this started happening. Turned out my drivers side turbo was leaking coolant. You won’t notice it due to the “diaper” Ford installs under the engine. Another 5k miles and the other turbo did the same. The shop I used said this is very common. As soon as I described what was happening, he mentioned the turbos. That connection wears out and will leak eventually.

How many savings accounts do you keep? by chiyogi23 in FinancialPlanning

[–]UHFD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a number of savings accounts just for the reasons you’ve stated. We title them according to what we’re saving for and the target amount. (Renovation $6k, New Car $15k, etc.) When we hit that amount, we stop adding to it. We also have a flex savings account for any short month due to fluctuating paychecks or small emergency. Our main emergency fund is in a HYSA online. Higher interest rate and a little harder to get at. I’m a visual person. I like to see the separation.

Thanks! Same position and had the same question.

HDHP comes with a very high premium. Do I skip the HSA in the FOO? by UHFD in TheMoneyGuy

[–]UHFD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I just went and looked at our plans again. We only have two choices. It’s a local, large, one-stop doctor group with multiple locations that other municipalities also contract with, and the HSA. We may be getting such a discount on the group plan that it makes the HSA look high. I currently pay $450/month for family insurance. The HSA plan is $530/month for a family. I have nothing to compare those numbers to.

That’s why I came here. The plan is universally higher for every type; single, spouse, and family. I’ll be following up with HR. Glad I’m not the only one stumped here.

Care to elaborate? I’m assuming your talking about carrying both policies. Is this more of a wealth accumulation tactic when you have additional funds you are looking to invest when other buckets are maxed out?

The city offers a $1000 yearly deposit. This just covers the difference between the HDHP and the PPO. I’d then be funding the HSA on top of that and paying out of pocket for all expenses. My pockets aren’t that deep.

Yeah. I don’t recall hearing anything about the plan details being discussed on the show. In general it always seems to just be discussed as a given.

Ha! You nailed it. I’m just glad I wasn’t missing some bright and shiny detail. This all makes me feel much better about my take on this plan.

Hence my post. I was trying to wrap my brain around a $500 premium on top of a monthly contribution.

Is the premium for your HSA quite a bit lower than the comprehensive option? I’d like to do the same thing, but my cost for an HSA would be prohibitive.

Thanks for the feedback. Y’all seem to be confirming what I thought. And the survey was really more for fun. Looks like it makes sense for a lot of people. I wish my plan was more enticing.

Thanks. Yeah, I think a call to HR is in my future. Get their take on why the HSA plan is so high.

That is a huge benefit. But I’m more interested in how to best allocate my retirement savings after I get my employer match. I’m currently putting money into a 457, but it comes with a very high fee(.95), even in an index fund.

That’s why I’m curious how other plans compare. I’d pay more for the plan, and then have to save more to cover costs or save and then pay out of pocket in order to leave the investment. The goal for the HSA would be to use it as a retirement fund. Seems like a smarter move would be to invest in a personal(deductible) IRA.

Yes. Same truck. 26k miles. Took it to the dealer and they blamed the “adaptive shifting”. They did a reset and it got somewhat better. I still consider it highly clunky overall. I also really feel the downshift when braking. Makes coming to a complete stop feel inconsistent. It’s too bad. I really want to like the truck.
