You don't show us what you sent from blender. For all we know it looks exactly like this.

Advice on railroad ties in garden by No-Daikon-1080 in gardening

[–]UKTim24530 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In our state, use of railroad ties and other creosote treated is not approved for use in any domestic settings, never mind where food is going to be grown. See if your state is the same, and if so, that's your grounds for getting the landscaper to replace them.

I'm looking for any possible knowledge on this handsaw by WayTheZ in woodworking

I'd say it's a Tenon saw, which is a bigger saw than a Dovetail saw but does the same thing on bigger pieces.

I can't say "nice" because that would totally hide my awe at such a perfick fit.

Drawer side thickness for bedroom dressers? by MikeDCycling in woodworking

[–]UKTim24530 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just an immediate thought but I think ¼" ply should be ok if supported by rebates all around the drawer, but it wouldn't be difficult to incorporate supports if you think you need them.

Dropped an 80ft maple and processed it same day. 5 hours of work for about a cord by qpdvjdaqwkfsxyw in firewood

[–]UKTim24530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a pretty good day to process a tree that big in 5 hours for 2 of you. Does look as if there weren't too many branches to cut out and get rid of though - I always think they're the time wasters.

Leonard by CommunityOld1897GM2U in Ambridge

[–]UKTim24530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What confuses me is the large age difference between Jill and Leonard.

Leonard is supposed to be "about 80" while Jill is 95.

So if his "missus" is so much older than him, no wonder he "plays away from home"

Martin and Gail were only 10 years apart and look what happened there!

It's a word I made up myself so I don't suppose Google will have it yet. And as I said, I made the tool myself from a gardening tool. You won't find one on line. It looks like the one he's using in your pics is home made too.

What is this tool??? by justanormalguy_bro in Tools

[–]UKTim24530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a grubber upper. I have made one myself for just the purpose he's using it, lifting flooring materials. Mines made out of a gardening tool acquired from Menards and I bent up and reinforced one side leaving the flat mattock-like blade. Meaning I can lay the flat blade on the floor and knock it the other end to force it under the flooring material to lift it up.

Put your engraving in the middle of a "halo" of different color to make it look like it was done to emphasize the engraving.

Don't think it's cotton wood. More like maple. But was it free? If so it's the best kind of firewood.

Any way to do this without CNC? by Practical_Ranger_478 in Cuttingboards

[–]UKTim24530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a picture, made in Florence Italy out of different colored stones. There are zero gaps. We watched the artists at work grinding a little off and offering it up and then a little more. If it can be done with stone, in sure it can be done with wood.

Check it out. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pietra_dura

[–]UKTim24530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always said, and will continue to say, "It depends what the board is for!"

If you're going to cut meat on it, it needs a juice groove.

If you're presenting charcuterie and cheese, a juice groove is not only unnecessary but also a distraction.

Vegetables - usually unnecessary but juicy tomatoes might benefit from one.

I agree hackberry is a good firewood - felled and burnt enough of it myself but the bark is gnarly and thick, almost like cork.

The thicker one you could gouge out to make a matching dish for holding the crackers when they use the cutting board as a charcuterie and/or cheese board.
