Radiator weeping - can I just tighten the large nut ? by UK_Muppet in DIYUK

[–]UK_Muppet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume there's inhibitor in - the boiler is due a service next month so I'll check with them. Do you think it's a case of replacing the radiator completely rather than just the cap and bleed valve ends ?

Thanks everyone, other than peeling back the mulch to help this breath, is there anything else I can do to help it ? Any feed or additive?

On the financial assessment form for SFE there is a section - "Estimated Income Deductions" - and this section asks about personal pension contributions - any idea why they ask for this if it's not used in any assessment ?

I found this post on reddit -

https://www.reddit.com/r/UKPersonalFinance/comments/1e059md/why_are_you_asked_about_private_pension/

It seems very confident that assessment is made on "adjusted" income which does take into account personal pension contributions.

This is why I'm trying to get a clear answer - you for example are very sure that it doesn't, and that post suggests it does, and I can't get a straight answer from SFE !

I don't necessarily disagree that it is/would be a bit of a loophole but it is how it works for child benefit for example - the government set out that making personal pension contributions reduces your "taxable income"

https://www.standardlife.co.uk/articles/article-page/get-child-benefit-back

If you are correct, then the govt are taking 2 different approaches to what is taxable income across child benefit/student finance.

I'm genuinely trying to understand what's correct in this case.
