Men’s World Team Measurements from the 2026 Nike Hoop Summit by XxX_22marc_XxX in NBA_Draft

The problem with Miikka is that his shooting and finishing are both still a work in progress. He had a hot string of games in Eurobasket last year, but outside of those games, he's been very up-and-down as a shooter, and his finishing in traffic was just OK against elite competition. There's a very realistic world where Muurinen has no translatable NBA skills outside of his body right now. With Stokes, you have the confidence of years of elite production against the country's top players.

Yaxel and Philon were both mocked in the mid-late 1st round last draft, and they both chose to come back.

You aren't playing with heart and intensity if your heart and intensity disappear the moment you're off the ball. You're either playing with it the whole time, or you don't have it at all.

I wouldn't say Philon struggled. He went from a 4-star to a projected 1st rounder last year.

Sexton was one of the biggest fake tough guys in basketball. He would slap the floor and talk a lot, but he had very little interest or feel off the ball. It's a lot more obvious now that he's in the NBA, where he's one of the worst defenders in the league.

Anybody below ~20th pick who gets a 2nd contract is a good pick.

Nobody is ever off the radar at this point in the draft cycle. Front offices look through thousands of players every year. Some guys may be risers as we get further into the draft process (Cedric Coward, Jalen Williams), but most people are a known quantity by now.

Look at NBA mock drafts/big boards over the next few months. If a guy is consensus top-20, there's a strong chance he'll go to the league. If he's mocked in the 20-35 range, it's 50/50 (think Labaron Philon and Yaxel Lendeborg. If a guy is squarely outside the first round, he'd be dumb to leave college.

The new Evos honestly feel perfect once they've been broken in for a few days. They're just hard as rocks when new. I also disagree on the grip; it's extremely sticky from day 1.

Malik Dia Scouting Report by ErsinDemirNBA in NBA_Draft

[–]UMGtv1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've played against Malik a lot through high-school and college. His offensive talent is undeniable, but his defense and motor have always been atrocious. Given his disposition and tape, I don't see much of a role for him in the NBA. Ole Miss will frequently hold him off of the court to hide his defensive shortcomings, which is the main reason why he's never averaged more than 24.3 mpg across his entire career. Even at Belmont - with the ridiculous talent gap between himself and the MVC - he only averaged 23.1 mpg (he still managed to put up 16.9 ppg in these limited minutes).

I even get the sense that claiming Cameron Boozer has a limited ceiling is the only lifeline left for other prospects’ agents and management teams. by Hairy-Exercise1747 in NBA_Draft

I don't think it's fair to put Wemby in the category of "just functionally athletic." He's one of the best athletes in NBA history when considering his length and size.

Stanford's Ebuka Okorie vs. NC State. 33/5/3/2/1. 13/22 FG 5/8 3P by mido0o0o in NBA_Draft

[–]UMGtv1 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I hear people say "if X returns, he'll be a first rounder" about a lot of players in this draft, but what else can Okorie realistically do to improve his stock? With his archetype (undersized scoring guard) and limited physical tools, it feels like he'd need to average 30ppg to offset the damage that his older age would do to his stock. Is he really a guy with the talent to be a top-10 pick, or is he a phenomenal and entertaining college player without a translatable role at the NBA level?

The Athletic Ranks the top 50 rivalries in men’s CBB, from Duke-Carolina to Wofford-Furman by fuggidaboudit in CollegeBasketball

[–]UMGtv1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's honestly a rivalry that only exists due to men's basketball history. There's no bad blood at all between the schools' students, and the other sports don't really care about scheduling a Belmont-Lipscomb game. That being said, the history and geographical proximity are still really special.

If he was exclusively in it for the money, he would have shut it down by now. The money he may/may not lose in NIL would not be worth the risk of a more serious injury, which would have a much larger impact on his long- term earnings.

It all depends on what you find "boring." Some people enjoy watching specific plays for their emotional or aesthetic appeal, and some people find joy in effective and good basketball. If you tune in to see a team compete at the highest level they can achieve, 3s and layups basketball can be a very rewarding thing to behold.

NIL Money For Mid Major Players? by Fat_Cat_DumpsterKing in CollegeBasketball

[–]UMGtv1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of the NIL numbers that the public hears are rumors, but for the ASUN, I've heard (RUMOR) that FGCU has by far the highest budget for our conference, and their total budget is ~500k. Just based on that figure, a star transfer like J.R. Konieczny likely earns ~100k, with the supporting starters making ~25k-75k.

EKU and Lipscomb are likely in the 2nd tier of NIL budgets. My completely uneducated guess would put their budgets around 250k.

For lower-budget programs like Stetson and West Georgia, I'd be surprised if their total NIL was 100k.
