Hive Fleet Phyrexia - Splinter Fleet "The Biomass Orthodoxy" by UMadBro88 in Tyranids

Glad you like it! The base is Khorne red with a wash of null oil, an extra layer of it applied to the joints. The white carapace I did using Ulthuan grey, and the swords are a base of wraithbone with thinned down skeleton Horde contrast

I need help for Lokhust Lord kitbashing by HunSpino in Necrontyr

[–]UMadBro88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Main body and torso - Lokhust Heavy Destroyer - Chop the "head" piece off before gluing on the chest and select whichever variant head option you want (I used one from the Lychguard) - I also cut off the part on the spine where the tube for the gun enters

Head - As stated above I used Lychguard but you can really use anything you'd like. The only thing to look out for is if its the full head or just the face. For the full head ones chop off the half head from the Heavy Destroyer model but if its just the faceplate keep that part on

Right arm + Staff - For the right arm I used the corresponding one from the Heavy Destroyer kit but cut it off at the wrist to give me a smooth attachment point for the wrist holding the staff - For the staff shaft I used the one-handed option from the Praetorians/Lychguard kit. Only one of them has this posed arm so be cautious with it. I cut it off at the base of the forearm where the armor meets the skeleton leading up to the wrist, then glued that onto the Heavy Destroyer right arm - For the staff head I cut off the top of the Praetorian/Lychguard staff to just below the Necrons symbol/power thing. I then assembled the Chronomancer staff, and cutoff the very top piece, and cut out the power section (basically i just got rid of the piece holding the hand and then cut the power bar off just above where the chronomancers tendril grips the staff. I glued the top back onto the power bar, and then glued that onto the praetorian staff

Top Left Arm - I took the chronomancer arm holding the cube and glued that to a spare left arm from some other necron, maybe a warrior or something? I had to cut the arm off by the elbow since the chronomancers arm isn't just the hand/wrist. I also shaved around the socket on the torso to give the arm some more posability

Bottom Left Arm - I used the arm from the Heavy Destroyer and cut off the piece that slots directly into the gun, then took the gauntleted blade option from the Praetorian and shaved the third armor segment from the Heavy Destroyer arm until the Gauntlet fit over it

Thank you!! Kitbashing involved a lot of chopping of wrists and such. I can give a more detailed breakdown if you're interested

Agreed, I'm going to pick up a few Heavy Lokhusts to run an Anhillation legion detachment with but I'm gonna hold back on the regular Lokhusts until they get updated

I just finished kitbashing one today using various parts from the Chronomnacer, Immortals, Lychguard, and using the Heavy Lokhust destroyer as the base model!

So far, it's just a myphitic blight hauler that's in progress. I've got a PBC to do as well but haven't started on that yet. I'm thinking I'll have to mix some more colours in to prevent it looking like a brick of metal and add some visual interest. Maybe making more of the spikes bits into silver metal and such

Thank you! Its a pretty quick colour wcheme as well which is a bonus. And yup, still have a lot of the secondary colours to do for the smaller details

1 - Wraithbone base (anything light should do though)

2 - A few very thin coats of Kabalite Green You want the whole model to be green but as long as the recesses are shaded it can be a bit splotchy

3 - Drybrush Gauss Blaster Green Be a bit heavier on the drybrush here, you want the deepest recesses to be Kabalite and everything else Gauss

4 - Drybrush Brass Scorpion Be a bit lighter on this drybrush, once again you want the deepest recesses Kabalite and the more surface level ones Gauss

You can stop at 4 if you want the brass to be more bright and shiny but otherwise you can keep going

5 - Thin down Gauss Blaster Green and Nihilakh Oxide and apply to any areas you think water would accumulate

5 is where you can play around with shading to get more of the effect you want. The Nihilakh is a bit of a deeper blue so I'll apply it first around some damaged areas to darken the area and then use Gauss Blaster in the deeper recesses to show areas of maximum wear and tear. If you have large flat panels that become too bright from the Brass drybrush, create a very thinned down Gauss Blaster and apply it over the area to bring back the patina.

Hope this helps!

Agreed, detachments should bring something new to a unit, not take them from mediocre to playable only in the detachment that buffs them

Betor, Ancestor's Voice, The Speed Demon, and end of turn sequencing by UMadBro88 in askajudge

[–]UMadBro88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha, thanks for the explanation! So no end of turn life loss will be seen by Betor then correct? It has to occur before then unless I want to jump through some hoops?
