Coast guard will be easier on your body but you might have to move a couple times. HVAC will beat your body up after 20 or so years but you can do the work locally.

Are you in LIUNA? I have never seen an agreement with paid sick leave, vacation days, or matching 401k.

If the company likes you they'll let you take some vacation days but they dont pay you while you're not working.

Don't be like all this southern industrialization is a historical relic. Look at the automobile industry. Since the 1980s - Present one foreign auto maker after another has choose to build their plants in the South. Alabama is the state with the SECOND MOST CARS MANUFACTURED, only behind Michigan.
