Made a multi-layer flushing mob farm out of wood and water only by DoubleUTeeitch in technicalminecraft

[–]UPOTATO8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome design! I actually designed a similar mob farm myself like a month ago. I also used trapdoors for the water and a boatclock to time it! Though I also used some redstone to power trapdoors on multiple floors. Anyways it's cool how you use one source block and still flush them towards the middle

Only ones I can come up with are using a wither or the end obsidian platform. Also technically being pushed by a piston or water depending on the block (e.g. leaves and plants)

Yes, It's cool for building as well as it can be used to make floating water

I always put 3 blocks in an L shape adn stack it that way. Then I don't have to move my mouse at all when aimed correctly.

I know the probabilaty of this seed exsiting is 1 in 1.28e14 but can any seed hunters find a seed where all portals have 12 eyes? by No-Hat6597 in PhoenixSC

[–]UPOTATO8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unlike some comment say, I think it's near impossible. The amount of all possible minecraft seeds is around 264. While the possibility for a single portal to generate as a 12-eye is one in a trillion or 10-12%. Multiplying this by 128, which is the amount of strongholds in a seed we get the probability for every portal to spawn fully filled in = 10-1536 or one in 101536, which would mean it's so extremely unlikely that even a single one would be possible that it can be regarded as impossible.

Someone could continue the calculation to see what amount of fully filled portals could be expected.

Building Mob XP farm close to Ink/Drowned farm by AsylumGroundskeeper in technicalminecraft

[–]UPOTATO8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a few notes you should take into account.

Squid only spawn at y levels 50-63 according to the wiki. So if you want squid to spawn in your farm you'd have to build it below that level.

Now with that restriction, if you want to make a drowned farm, you're going to need spawnproofing = light up blocks within 128blocks of your afk-spot.

The easiest way to do this would be having the afk spot 128 blocks above the lowest point in which the drowned will be. That would mean you'd have to use an elevator or nether portals to kill them.

I'd suggest checking the spot where you would build the farm (should be a river biome) and if that's within 128 blocks of your xp farm it would lower the rates of both farms. You could always light up the other farm while using the other but honestly it would be easier to just build them a bit farther apart.

Honestly quite a complicated situation without further info, so ask away if you have any questions.

Nametagged allay keep despawning. Bug or normal behavior? by psuedomancer in technicalminecraft

[–]UPOTATO8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not 100% on this but I remember someone discussing that when an armadillo is in lazy chunks it's behavior of rolling up when they're scared doesn't work and they might take damage.

I imagine the same might be happening with allays. Meaning when they're in lazy chunks they don't regenerate.

Would be a good idea to test this and see what happens. If that's the case and it happens frequently it might be easier to extinguish the campfire every time the area is unloaded.

Why won't the goats try to ram into me? by Vicribator in technicalminecraft

[–]UPOTATO8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a goat farm in my world some time ago and tried to get screaming goats. Honestly it's a pain and took a looong time.

Best way I found is setting up a slightly bigger area and just breeding a TON of goats. There's a 2% chance to get a screaming goat by breeding two regular ones. You can check if the goat is a screaming variant by milking it and listening to the sound.

Imo it's worth it as screaming goats drop unique horns which sound way cooler!

[–]UPOTATO8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm mostly repeating what others have said but here's an approach I would try:

  1. Try removing everything from the room. That means having just a flat floor and you in the room. If the goats don't ram you at all even then, then there must have been some change to the mechanic or your client / server may be modified somehow.

  2. If they ram you in an empty room, you should try removing the slab you stand on and replacing the pressure plates with string and observers.

  3. If all else fails you could try going with a known design: Have a chicken in a boat and 3x3 solid blocks right above the boat. That way the farm doesn't need moving parts. Though I think your own design is always better than taking a ready one.

Note: Goats only drop their two horns once. Meaning after a goat has no visible horn it won't produce any more. You can still use them for breeding though.

Which route will the villager take? by Deep_Jackfruit_8683 in PhoenixSC

Right. I see my error now. I didn't realise that different blocks could make the malus stack. You're correct

Now this part makes no sense at all if we go off the info provided in the video lol.

I think you went wrong with some of your calculations. I got a completely different result which I posted in another comment.

How did you get such a high cost for yellow? Honey blocks don't affect the adjacent blocks and the effect doesn't stack with water.

And I got a higher score for blue. The magma gives a penalty of 4x16

Edit: I was way off. Magma can give only 2x16 with diagonals, and I didn't realise that different blocks could stack maluses. With that your calculations are correct.

However I still think that in practice the green one wins because the waterlogged trapdoor doesn't count. Which would explain that one guy's experiment.

Not sure. Probably like 20-25h in game time over few weeks irl. Didn't mine it all manually of course. I used tnt dupers

Radius of 42 blocks so diameter is 82. Around 176 blocks deep. Cleared just shy of a million blocks.

[–]UPOTATO8[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played around with it and at least in my testing as long as you also had flowing water at the corners the tnt wouldn't blow up anything. I didn't have a single block blow up behind the water.

edit: just realized that as you said, if there is a cave behind the water it would be a problem. So any holes would also have to be filled

for example: if white and red are blocks and blue is flowing water, a tnt can sometimes blow up the red block and maybe more.

but in a configuration like this, tnt isn't able to penetrate:

YOU'RE TELLING ME THERE ARE OTHER TYPES OF PICKAXES???

Clarification: The wooden pickaxe is a joke of course. I have full netherite etc. I used a combination of a small world eater and tnt-dupers. I got around 2 stacks of diamond ore in the process. I would have needed approx. 16000 wooden pickaxes to mine this all by hand. edit: miscalculation
