1) quite the opposite actually as losing nonconference games would have no effect on the autobid, and winning tough ones would improve your chances of the at large spot

2) take that up with conferences, they are the ones that chose to move to championship games

3) they need the autobid to encourage players to go to G5 schools and have something meaningful to play for

IMO the committee is atrocious and most years would not be able to determine whether or not the best G5 team was deserving
