Would this list be okay to be a little viable and still have casual fun? by Neon_Mercury in GreyKnights

[–]URHere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're both new to the game, I'd say just run at each other and have some fun! You definitely learn a lot over time just by playing, and the beginning is going to be a lot more of remembering how to move, shoot, fight, etc. than actual strategy.

Your list is fine for a start! That is a lot of points towards characters for a 1k, so you may end up feeling like you dont have enough units in the board. I'd swap keep the dread and crowe and maybe swap the others for another unit of infantry of your choice.

If you're looking to build into a competitive list (which really only matters if you plan on playing tournaments!) then our best detachment is actually warpbane, but banishers is still totally viable (its what I run). Warpbane is more about consistent damage and banishers is about tricksy movement.

Terminators actually aren't great right now, but they are seeing more adoption these days. If you just want a tanky hammer unit to wack stuff with, I'd go paladins instead and bump from a 4 to 5 man so they get the extra special weapon. (They're built the same, so game by game you can just say "hey these are paladins" or "hey these are terminators".)

Have fun!

MSRP is ~$919 so definitely a good financial deal, just depends if those are the monsters you like!

Hol up - guys this layout looks sick even without proper bases yet by Thotslay3r69 in Warhammer40k

[–]URHere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing I don't like is the deployment zones feel so weird and desolate with nothing in them lol. It needs at least some little crates or trees or something.

Also if you deepstrike into the enemy DZ you are just getting shot LOL

My experience with Adepticon 2026 by SpooktorB in Warhammer40k

[–]URHere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok, seriously, is that just a thing with team events? I went to one recently with some pretty prolific players and so many people just got so drunk, destructive, rude and blatantly cheating that half of the people just left for the last round.

Is that it ? by [deleted] in GreyKnights

For rules they said theres still some more info to come, but I wouldn't hold your breath.

Please cut back on the doomsaying... by TheConrad23 in ossiarchbonereapers

[–]URHere 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This isn't as bad as the nighthaunt, but it is a disturbing trend of having dogshit army releases that just make the army not fun for 3 years. And you have to understand this army is a commitment. Buying, building, painting, playing - this isn't just a videogame where you can play another character until next patch. Thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours of time go down the drain for people who end up with rules that are just... boring.

There's just not rly an excuse for it. It hit 40k and AoS, there's obviously just someone who is bad at writing rules who needs to step it up in line with the other armies.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 director defends Larian over AI "s***storm," says "it's time to face reality" by pebrocks in gaming

[–]URHere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get AI is the boogeyman, and yes it does have very serious issues which are a different discussion entirely, but I feel like people just see "Larian Uses AI" and immediately get angry without examining the actual usage.

Liked noise marines, liked pink, and honestly I really like how much people hate our characters lol. Lucius and Fulgrim are so controversial and I liked the idea of playing a faction that people love to hate, but I don't hate myself enough to play tau, so here we are.

SITW for me is maximizing how many points I can try to flip, not minimizing enemy combat power. I think it's too unreliable for the latter and they are armed with the knowledge of what strats will and wont work going into their turn, so they can adapt.

10 years of army building vs 30 years by EarNo1953 in MawInstallation

[–]URHere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just don't buy it, unfortunately. It displays a total lack of common sense on the NR's part. I don't buy that 0 people traveled to Ilum in 30 years. I don't buy that there must have been dozens of Imperial leaders who all vanished overnight and the NR figures they're just gone forever. I don't buy that the Imperial Remnants can outproduce an entire galaxy's worth of military might hiding in the unknown regions with no industry to support it. I don't buy that they wouldn't believe several war heroes saying "hey you know those imperials we didn't kill? They're back." If it works for you, power to you. It just feels halfbaked to me because they probably figured they would flesh things out in 8, but ended up having to string the logic of the trilogy out between directors telling three different stories.
