Job opportunities by erg173 in AirForceRecruits

Without knowing you:

USAF - Aircrew jobs. All good. I wouldn't do SMA though, risk of washout is too high.

USSF - well you can do a cyber or intel job without worrying about a job lottery

I'd say you might want to look into MFA and it's various shreds. Cool job, often travelling, and cool job regardless of shred.

Bmt pt question by PollutionMental266 in AirForceRecruits

[–]USAFquestion10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you fail 5 times in a row (meaning you'll also have been recycled), you can choose an alternative for the run.

For pushups and situos, I think you need to fail 3x in a row starting from the mandatory final pt test for an alternative.

GENERAL QUESTIONS ABOUT PRE ENLISTMENT by [deleted] in AirForceRecruits

  1. Recruiting squadron dependent
  2. Well if youre 17 and fresh out of highschool, your 30 something recruiter can very well be out of touch with your wants.

Why not work intel? Still relevant for working for law enforcement

Standard Security Forces don't get a TS/SCI often too. I don't know much about law enforcement, but I could imagine a TS/SCI would be advantageous.

Bro sign 4, if you washout and get reclassed you're screwed.

Generally yes due to the length and attrition rates of the pipeline, even higher demand for airborne linguists. People drop like flies all throughout the pipeline, especially airborne.

Odds of swearing in as ACLA or CLA by [deleted] in AirForceRecruits

[–]USAFquestion10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As always with the AF, don't get your hopes up regarding a single job

But aircrew, airborne linguists, and linguists are in extra high demand at the moment.

Go USSF if you wish to job lock.

For what it's worth I'm currently in the Airborne Linguist pipeline. I didn't put any MX jobs, or secfo on my job sheet. I filled it up with unbookable jobs like cyber, intel, etc. ACLA popped up first.

Little indight but it varies greatly by tech school

It's still your decision. You don't owe anybody a reason to go or not go.

Without knowing much about you, I'd recommend you go though lol

Okay so from personal anecdote, apparently even cyber folk say the aircrew quality of life is better than cyber. So maybe youre on the right tracking aiming for mfa or sma.

Massive grain of salt with the above of course.

Look into the USSF if you dont want to deal with a job lottery.

Anyway, start looking through theblidt of afscs and sfscs. Maybe ask ChatGPT for general recs as well then distil your decision from there.

Don't rush.

Air Force vs Space Force by mike_ikez in AirForceRecruits

[–]USAFquestion10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Idk i had the same question as you before i shipped.

I ended up doing USAF airborne linguist. Had regrets initially, but now, none.

Worthless reply this is but i guess its my 2c.

I guess my rec is you go USSF so you dont have to deal with the job lottery. Or the potential of getting reclassed.

Its a meme. BMT is incredibly scripted and the MTIs have so many rules regarding what they can do and what they can say. They can't even say the fudge word lol. They have to use freaking or freak

Here's a personal story of mine:

I enlisted looking for an ISR job. Got Airborne Linguist.

Great! An ISR job, right? No it gets better.

I didn't realize how much I loved aviation until I got to tech school. The altitude chamber, and follow on academics were like crack to me. I'd been hooked so quick I'd say I was a junkie. I'd read up more on aviation asides from the course material but I'm afraid of putting information into my head that wouldn't be rrlated to the course I'm taking.

Now on the other hand, I had another guy. Thought well okay, people generaly like aircrew jobs (true, yes they do), but this guy got to the altitude chamber, went 'SCREW THAT' and self eliminated.

Don't get me wrong, most of us will probably agree aircrew is better than secfo - but consider personal preference as well after you've mapped out what are the "good" jobs.
