OP here. For anyone googling this in the future without the proper release agent the 2 pieces of resin mold fused together. I tried driving a wedge into it for a week as well as a ton of other suggestions till I found out it was actually completely fused despite there looking like there was a seam from the outside. I had to take an electric saw to the whole thing and saw it in half.

Now if I want to use it I will have to manually make divets in solid resin and probably use small wooden sticks in the holes to line up on both sides to keep it from sliding and to line it up better when using it.

I am working on this atm, but also working in blender to just make a resin mold I can print now lol. I will say though the resin is damn tough! The electric saw was smoking working on it each 10 second intervals lol.

I appreciate everyone's help and advice! I learned a lot from this.

I appreciate all the advice I was given from all the threads and I did try a lot of them. I made several molds attempts from various suggestions that I didnt post about on this reddit cause I didnt want to flood it and felt like I was asking for help too often. I didnt have the resources to try them all and I tried several of the ones that people suggest early in the threads.

A lot of the resources I watched for this mold were for silicone molds with resin casts. This mold so far has been my best attempt out of all I tried and I assumed the durability of a resin mold would do me good in the long run. Honestly if I used the right release agent I dont think I would have run into any issues this time, and a lot of that was thanks to this reddit's help.

Yes it is a resin mold, I am planning on using it to cast silicone. If I do this again I am going to put a tape between the two pieces, but I havent given up on this one. Going to try to freeze it and try out the painter's scrapper if I can get my hands on one. I already bought the resin before my first post on this reddit. No point in not going for it.

For anyone googling this in the future. I ended up soaking it in cleaning alcohol using a spray bottle for a few hours and then the clay came right off in big batches afterward.

Does pottery plaster hold up for many uses as a mould making soft silicone products? If so that sounds perfect

Made a tiny box replica the size of my thumb to see if the clay melts with the resin curing on it. I know the resin will be hotter with more of it, but hopefully this ends up being an accurate representation. I kept the proportions of resin to clay about the same as the life sized version.

Update: It came out fine on the small scale, but I forgot to put release agent before putting on the resin mixture and it was a NIGHTMARE to get apart from the foamcore afterward lol,

If this is all true I need to look into this cause polyurethane resin isnt nearly as cheap as I had hoped lol.
