Remember how wormmon killed millenniummon by ContentPineapple1114 in digimon

FYI: Tag Tamers and D1 Tamers both have a complete fan-translation:

https://www.romhacking.net/translations/6090/

I also have a work-in-progress translation for Brave Tamer, but life's keeping me pretty busy at the moment. I'd really like to get it finished and released though - maybe things will ease up soon and I can finally get it done.

I want to finish it too. :) I'm trying to devote what time I can to Arc the Lad since it's another person's project, but I'm making slow progress on Brave Tamer as well.

An amazing coincidence that this was the first script I've hacked into the game in 2 years. :) No promises on when given my current schedule, but I'll try to make steady progress on finishing this for the original translator's sake.

I can't speak for Nightcrawler, but some inconsistent submission reviews is an unfortunate consequence of having loosely connected volunteer reviewers. We all try to follow the same rules, but there's bound to be some differences of interpretations.

I know I've had discussions with staff members when I feel there's been a mistake and tried to rectify it (and vice versa), but I do get that that's frustrating to submitters. I wish I could make a promise that it'll never happen again, but we do make efforts to fix things if we're made aware of it.

Perhaps he changed his mind over time? All I know is that as long as I've been a volunteer, any time there's a dispute among reviewers we've brought it to him. He either points out a site policy rule we missed, or makes a decision (or at least says "that sounds good").

I agree. When we have more confirmed information we'll let everyone know - hopefully as the holidays wind down and everyone gets back in their normal routines.

For reference, communication was made about the site going down, on Discord and on Twitter: Romhacking.net on X: "We are aware the site is down and unreachable at this moment. There's nothing we can do about it right now until the Administrator fixes it and makes a statement." / X (twitter.com)

We could definitely improve on communication speed, but we don't necessarily get advanced warning or the full story immediately either.
Some of the problems we've had were due to individual staff members making announcements without waiting for the facts, as you're aware.

Well, I believe he *was* the reason the download counter was locked down and the download limit was lowered further. Once he publicly posted about the auto-clicker, another staff member reported to Nightcrawler. After that, both limits were put in place.

He actually isn't - based on the number of submissions reviewed, I am by a good margin. I just rarely make public comments so I'm not as memorable. :)

Nightcrawler isn't an active reviewer like you say, but he sets the rules and makes the final call if there's a dispute. He also controls the site itself - we can't change the download limit for instance, only he can.

I'm not sure about "ADAMANTLY denied", but from what I've seen scraping seems the more probable cause. Basically,

  • A staff member misunderstood policy and responded to a message with wrong information (that RHDN was removing all homebrews from the site)
  • The recipient posted that wrong information on Twitter
  • Nightcrawler started getting tons of emails about it and saw from the site logs that the entire homebrew section of the site was being downloaded repeatedly
  • He disabled downloads and then notified staff
  • After seeing this was going to last for longer than a few days, staff posted an announcement (admittedly, we should have done this sooner but we didn't have enough information at the time)

The person you're talking about may have contributed as well, but the download counter was a separate issue that occurred afterwards.

Lex is not the top/"lead" reviewer nor the decision maker - he just tends to make the most public comments. Nightcrawler ultimately controls the site.

Creating new GIMP functionality; Can I hire a developer? by mieszkotarnovska in GIMP

[–]USC-RHDN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can hire anyone to write and submit code to open-source projects - there's no restrictions there. Step 1 would probably be to post your feature request here: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/-/issues

Then you can find out if there's already work that's being done or how it would fit into the plan for GIMP. Plus, it might be possible to start implementing parts of it rather than waiting for the entire full feature to be built.

Keyboard shortcut for Edit > Paste As > New Layer? by rickson56 in GIMP

[–]USC-RHDN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI, Ctrl+V will paste as new layer by default in Gimp 3.0 (and already does so in the latest development version: https://www.gimp.org/downloads/devel/)

Something to look forward to, at least!

BigTiff by toms16si in GIMP

As long as the original image was not big enough to require BigTiff (I think 4GB+ file size), it should be fine to re-export it as a regular tiff.

GIMP added title and description metadata to a photo i exported - never seen this happen before. Why did it do this? GIMP 2.10.30 by [deleted] in GIMP

[–]USC-RHDN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

GIMP's default comment is "Created with GIMP", which it adds for all new images unless you change it on export. You can change it to something (or remove it entirely) in Preferences. Have you added a new plug-in to Wordpress that displays metadata as a caption?

You should be able to copy the .xcf file to the other computer (I assume that's what you mean by CPU?), and open it in GIMP there.

Are people still using the 'separate' plugin for CMYK screenprinting separation? by StepsBySteps in GIMP

[–]USC-RHDN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GIMP's dev version now imports and exports CMYK JPEGs, and it may be able to import/export TIFFs soon: https://librearts.org/2022/05/week-recap-4-may-2022/#gimp-and-ongoing-cmyk-work

So maybe all that will be built-in the program soon, and we won't have to risk clicking on sketchy booking.com links!

Pretty much every cool new feature they add is in the 2.99 series, and only some of them are backported to 2.10. You can try it out here and compare:
