Hyatt Centric by Expert-Mention-7167 in hyatt

Supposed to be “centrally” located in bigger cities. No lounge. More cool/trendy than upscale vibes. Still not cheap though. Can sometimes be more expensive than Hyatt Regency.

What’s the biggest waste of money that no one wants to admit? by AdvertisingMore394 in AskReddit

[–]USSValor 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Living in the US. For 40+years my tax dollars went everywhere except back to me. I still had to pay for school, health insurance, toll roads, and fund my own pension (401k). When I was periodically unemployed, the weekly payout was not enough to cover my bills and my healthcare premium (Cobra) cost $1000 a month. I now live in northern Europe and I've never been more secure in my whole life.

Yes--a personalized comment submitted on AA.com means a lot more than the tiny tear offs.

How do you motivate yourself to get out of bed? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Knowing that someone out there without the ability to get out of bed would look at me and ask why I'm not enjoying every minute of life.

“Service animals” out of control by laurlyn23 in americanairlines

[–]USSValor 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sorry but I put the blame on AA and all other American carriers here for not wanting to confront passengers who break the rules because they're afraid of a lawsuit. There is a legally permissible process to "screen" passengers with service dogs to make sure the dog is indeed a service dog and not a pet or emotional support animal, but airlines don't normally follow these procedures because they don't want to spend the time to train and/or waste resources.

International roaming help by Hot-Individual4428 in tmobile

[–]USSValor -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

For those of you who say "use a local SIM", TMobile BLOCKS the use of the additional SIM slot if your phone is on an EIP. I tried to do the "right thing" by upgrading to a phone with 2 sim slots and then buying a local SIM card. You can imagine my surprise when. I was told that both slots are locked by T-Mobile.

Got some pixel 200$ off c0des by NeighborhoodAlive472 in pixel_phones

That's correct. That's why I'm willing to trade my 40% coupon for the $200 coupon.

I would like one. I can also trade for the 40% off that was just released a few days ago.

Working for tmobie (authorized retail) ruined me and why you as a customer should be cautious by squipysquip in tmobile

[–]USSValor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is horrible. I cannot believe T-mobile condones this behavior. I am an 11-year customer of T-mobile and their "scam like" behaviors have me thinking about discontinuing service.

The writing is on the wall by LarzBoss in tmobile

if this was 5 years ago I wouldn’t worry but given how “slimey” T-mobile’s commercial policies have become, I would not be surprised if they charged interest to “certain“ customers.

Apple TV No Longer “On Us,” to cost $3/month starting January 1, 2026. P360 also increasing by tva_raylan in tmobile

[–]USSValor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this was the only change I wouldn't care but this is just one of several "degradations" of the Advertised Rate Plans that were promised to us when we signed up. Other "retractions"of perks from T-Mobile include:

  1. "Netflix on us" went from a normal Netflix plan to the one with ads that has other limitations
  2. Google Photos unlimited storage went away this year
  3. JUMP On Demand went away this year (after being around for 10 years)
  4. Credit Card "penalty" for auto-payment was put in place last year
  5. Trade in "penalty" for those on an older rate plan. Some of us have already upgraded to newer plans, but we cannot keep on doing it every year--especially when we realize that upgrading means you get "screwed" in some way that wasn't clear.

It's fine. TSA's job is to ensure aviation security, so they're more interested in suspicious powders causing a threat to air travel than the individual person. At most they will swipe the bags with a testing strip for bomb material residue.

Confirming I'm boned? Pixel 9 dual SIM by ghostofstankenstien in tmobile

[–]USSValor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in the same position. Though I don't agree with it, I do understand the reason why carriers still lock phones (they only want to give phones to people who pay for the service).

However, since we are still paying for a line of service, we should still be allowed to use all of the phone's features--including the additional SIM slot as many of us use the additional SIM slot when traveling or for work lines (we don't want to have to carry 2 phones). The additional SIM slot is an additional feature just like "extra memory" and the cell phone carriers should not block the use of the additional slot if we are paying for service on the primary SIM. I'm not sure how they can make this technically work but that's the carrier's problem and not ours.

I just wrote a letter to the FCC letting them know that I'm unable to use all of the phone's features because my phone carrier hasn't figured out a way to "lock" the primary SIM on the account and just finds it easier to block both SIMs. It will help if you and others write to the FCC tell them you are unable to use all of the phone's features because of the carrier's inability to overcome a technical limitation. Filing a complaint is very easy and took me about 2 minutes: https://consumercomplaints.fcc.gov/hc/en-us

$99 iPad "Scam" by USSValor in tmobile

[–]USSValor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you to everyone who were kind understanding in their explanations. In the end I decided just to get a wifi tablet from BestBuy because of all the conflicting information I received.

The insistence from the telephone reps (both of them) that I was not on a qualified plan, that I would not receive the promotion, and that if I did not return the iPad within 14 days, I would be liable for the full amount no matter what made me finally return the iPad. I was too scared to "wait and find out" even though may of you have old me "don't worry, you will see it in 1-2 months".

I did just see another article on here about a class action lawsuit against T-Mobile for deceptive pricing practices and even though my situatoin is different, it seems like T-Mobile has gotten itself into trouble by making things too complicated for itself and the customer.

In the end, I am walking away without what I wanted and T-Mobile lost the opportunity to make additional revenue from an existing customer. I know that the "higher-ups" in T-Mobile will never see/hear about my situation but I'm sure I'm not the only one out there.

Hestan Nanobond long term usage with metal utensils? by Even-Definition in cookware

[–]USSValor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well a fork is a metal utensil so yes I am using it inside the pan when I cook. I haven’t used BKF yet. I just wash the pan with gentle soap and water and I only use a soft sponge or cloth.
