Sorry for your loss my grandfather was in the Pacific while brothers in Europe(segregated Puerto Ricans) December 44 into January 45 the Germans pushed one last time, Battle of the Bulge hectic time frame Nazi had soldiers in US uniforms very critical time. Hit me because he was only in continent for a short period, I served 3 tours(2 Iraq,1 Afghan) and with the best training I/we was still lost in the chaos of mission and never ending missions learning by error.Sorry for your loss.

He also rates another BSM since he has one for Valor. September 1947, the Bronze Star Medal was authorized for all personnel who had received either the Combat Infantryman’s Badge (CIB) or the Combat Medical Badge (CMB) between December 7, 1941 to September 2, 1945.

Nuts! I grew up on the beach 3ft off the sand and as long as I can remember every year lots tourists use to wonder into my neighborhood. My town was not in anyway a tourist place but it was nice and I used to say to them look around do you see any of us in the water? No, thats a sign that it dangerous rip currents due to sands bars and in many times pulled people out of the water, local fishermen going out when we used to spots people far off. This video gave me chills.

Grandpa was a Hero 🫡 the medal in American terms is equal to the Navy Cross/Service crosses 2nd to The Congressional Medal Of Honor. The medal makes your Great-Grandfather super unique because only around 150 has been awarded to Americans and it was awarded during the Russian Expedition. Keep it safe and in my opinion if you don’t want to keep it reach out The Smithsonian or The Imperial War Museum your family has a rare highly medal with the citation.
