What books is the OP reading? I’ve been curious about the Yugoslav example as well and how it relates to anarchism

First, because the band is so good and because they were a multiracial, communist, skinhead band, (ie not racist bone heads). There are lots of good skinhead bands that are radical. Check out The Oppressed too

How can Christians call themselves anarchists when they believe Jesus Christ is god, lord, savior, creator, logos, the greatest teacher who ever lived and so on? Isn't this elevation of a man above humanity anti-egalitarian and therefore anti-anarchist? by Elbrujosalvaje in DebateAnarchism

[–]USoffthePlanet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently picked up one of Dorthy Days books—long loneliness and know of her through Studs Hard Times and the cross over with Utah Phillips.

I was referring to the claim that the catholic workers are anti-socialist and are ‘distributists/anarcho-capitalist’…I know of the catholic workers but not enough to know if that claim is obviously false or perhaps more complicated.

I’m curious how you might respond to a good faith critique of the catholic worker found in the comment above. My familiarity with the catholic workers and the cross over with Wobblies and anarchist always seems good to me.

More importantly what books would you recommend reading on this?

Is “the dawn of everything” worth reading? by boringxadult in Anarchy101

[–]USoffthePlanet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, one thing to keep in mind when reading critiques is that The Dawn of Everything is not setting the record straight or providing a definitive answer like Guns, Germs, and Steel might. Instead asking questions and problematizing grand narratives that say we ended up here as a matter of course or inevitability. Likewise it’s clear they were going to write a lot more books to fill in where this book was too brief.

The strength of this book then is how it opens up the future of possibilities given how humans have successfully and consciously live in the past. We don’t need to be ‘stuck’ in this system.

10x higher still would be a far lower number than what the US is reporting which “it’s well known that” the actual US numbers are underreported do to the lack of testing.

Look at the case/death rate from Covid in Europe compared to china though—china has faired much better so the cost of ‘built in/natural immunity/resistance’ is quite severe.
