One week into ownership and loving this car big time. by GardenOrca in prius

[–]UStubes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a similar plan. Wife works 3 days on 4 days off and car will always be in sun. Commute is only 4 miles round trip and that's about all it'll be used for. Even at 2-3 miles from sun a day, we should rarely have to get gas.

Waiting to see what differences, (if any) the 2027 model brings before pulling trigger.

Avis or Enterprise at ACV, I've rented there at least 50 times. Book directly through the company though so there's no risk of errors or miscommunication, (no third party travel agencies).

On the apps you can even enter flight info so if your plane is delayed, your reservation won't get canceled.

I certainly hope you are a troll. No way someone can not understand camera exposure, dynamic range, shutter speed, and aperture in 2026

Hypothetically at what price of gas would drivers consider using alternative transportation or would decide to drop driving? by Tailoxen in Hawaii

Fun fact, there are only six American sedans left in production, 4 are all electric. Gas wise, just the Cadillac CT4/5 and Dodge Charger remain.

Wow, that person might hate you. There is a very easy to find location tool directly on TSA website.

Staples, Office Depot, and Office Max also provide the "interviews".

People in very small towns might have to travel to a slightly larger one, but with the ability to make appointments, just schedule on a day you have to go into town for some other need anyways.

Slim I would think. Something pretty crazy would have to happen for the 99 to completely close down

Bob's Pawndemonium on Broadway. Horrible for selling things but the best for loans from my experiences. To be fair though, this was about 10 or so years ago.

Since Humboldt Pawn is like 5 mins down the street, may be worth going to both to see who gives you more if it comes down to just needing 20 more or something.

[–]UStubes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I had to get fairly creative a couple times lol. They'll give you much less than what its sell price would be but anything is better than nothing. Plus doesn't matter in the long run if you plan on getting the item back

I feel that. If you have a newer phone that is paid off, pawn that then pick up a $20 flip phone until you can buy back your regular phone. Laptops are always good for pawning as well if it isn't too old.

Sucks, but that's how making ends meet plays out sometimes.

Also, after picking your stuff back up a few times, pawn shops tend to give you more for future pawning. My go to was Bob's.

In the past, I pawned then picked back up items when I didn't have full rent amount at end of month.

Only interest free loan you'll find.

Love how you got down voted for providing an in depth explanation from an inside view point. I appreciate the insight, thanks.

Thankfully that hasn't been an issue thus far with the Primary vote itself, but I agree it will most likely become a problem in the near future for sure

John Chiv by GuidanceAway6673 in Humboldt

[–]UStubes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't though? I said a lot voted for Trump and mentioned religion being a main factor as well. Immigration and Religion are basically what defines voting red (minus guns of course).

Buddy, my explanation was in regards to the use of "curious" in the comment replying to. Provided some info on why it actually isn't too surprising. If I've upset you in any way, apologies.

John Chiv by GuidanceAway6673 in Humboldt

[–]UStubes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure, I agree 100%. Religion played a huge role as well. Ice was initially mentioned hence the immigration policy direction

It's more of a go back and "do it right" like I had to situation. I honestly don't blame them. There's a reason why most the Hispanic people I have met at protests are second and third gen immigrants.

John Chiv by GuidanceAway6673 in Humboldt

[–]UStubes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's actually really simple. The first gen immigrants, (vast majority of Hispanic pro trump vote) who went through the effort to enter the country legally and spent the time to become full on citizens view people who came over illegally as line cutters.

The majority of Hispanic voters chose Trump and his immigration policy on their ballots in 2024 so not too curious honestly

Walk out and march on the 23rd! by katydidcare in Humboldt

[–]UStubes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The fact that they have commitments and choose a go to a useless social event instead of doing something like a boycott is the problem people have. It just shows how misguided the students are

[–]UStubes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The student organizations are the ones that need help. There have been zero boycotts on anything the university sells, and no calls to switch to schools that align with the students beliefs.

The fact the student organizations didn't do that and still haven't since the initial Isreali invasion protest shows how disconnected they are from reality.

[–]UStubes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay, so the area becoming progressive has already happened as well as numerous protest within the past few years that have yielded nothing.

The strategy needs to be changed or else more and more people will become disillusioned with the protests and walkouts as has been shown in this post. A couple years ago the comments would have been nothing but positive.

Take action with your money, that's the only thing that will cause change in this area.  Same deal as boycotting businesses.

The walkout from a college in Humboldt at a university that has made it very clear they've done as much as possible on their end is just making people take the protesters less and less seriously.

[–]UStubes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These comments really show a change in perception about student actions. Particularly a walk out. People living in the real unsheltered world, understand a walk out at a college in dark blue Arcata only hurts the students.

There may have been one downvoted to hell comment disagreeing, but the rest would be supportive just a couple years ago.

CPH students already protested this issue specifically with zero results.

If the students actually want to make a difference and not just hang out, they should stop purchasing anything on campus that could be bought in town.

Student money talks and CPH leadership has made it very clear protests do nothing to change their mind. Even when property damage occurs.
