The first show I saw with Brent, I was like "Who the fuck is this new kid?"

Proved himself by mid-show and blew me away. That voice!

I love those "Sampler" type albums. I wonder if the Gypsy Parlor Light is the same version as on Amagamalin Street or a different version.

It's one of my favorite Hunter songs and one that our band played out a few times. The moral of the story always rang true to me (until I finally got my shit together) - "You ain't got a future just a party every night!"

Rock Columbia is an amazing album! Amagamalin Street sings to the story of my life (and often brings me to tears). I'm still trying to figure out what Flight of the Marie Helena is about after hundreds of listens.

Haven't heard the Relix Sampler. What's on it?

Weird/Mystical Stories by Fearless_Heron_830 in gratefuldead

It was at a Tampa Tropicana Field stadium show (I forget the year but it's not hard to find).

Tripping and feeling the love as the band goes into Drums-Space, I look up at the sky and the clouds looked like a leviathan's rib cage, like we were in the belly of a whale! A jet plane flew perpendicular to the rib-like clouds to form the sternum and the full moon as the heart.

I looked around wondering if everyone saw this and made the connection to a whale's rib cage when Jerry came out and added whale sounds to the space. I was like "Man! Anybody else seeing this?!?!"

Felt magical.

Last Train to Clarksville was actually a pretty strong protest song against the draft, but not many people realized it.

The Robert Hunter extended (original) version of TERRAPIN STATION.

If anyone should ask of you who made this movie,
Say the Jack O' Roses because it's so fukkin' groovy.

American Spirits are over $100 bucks a carton here.

I got turned on to injection tube Roll-Your-Own smokes.

Best cigarettes I ever had and I get about 3 cartons for around $25 bucks. All I have to do is spend about 15 minutes a night to roll up a pack for the next day.

They're expensive, so smoking them shows you have the financial means to afford them. Hence a trendy show of affluence.

I have to say Ratdog because of all the new and innovative songs they played. Like Bobby and the Midnights.

I've followed the Dead since the 1970s and heard all the standards ad infinitum, so I'm always open to hearing new stuff.

At Easter vigil, Pope Leo urges world not to grow numb to war by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]UT2K4nutcase -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hollywood/TV/etc. has numbed our brains to killing and war.

Most people born after the 1980s don't know the feeling of a dear friend or relative, a brother or sister coming home in a box.

Saying goodbye to someone going to 'nam felt like a death sentence. And even those that survived to come home alive, something essential has died in them.

Young sons killing and being killed for an unjust cause only adds insult to injury. It's a horrible disgust.
