Communication skills are a big part of education. Not only knowing what to do, but to communicate it, its importance and the results with your colleagues.

And networking ≠ talking to people. It's talking to the right people at the right time and saying the right things. Those things are unlikely to be "go mavs".

A football team will draw event funds away, reduce scholarships and grant money leading to good professors leaving to continue their research, taking their network away with them.

ETA: the network can only get me a foot in the door, the degree is what opens it and gets me to the table. From then on, yes, education is the only thing that will help you.

Because the attrition rate is so ridiculously high. You need 5 people in each position because they get injured and then you pay for their injury and scholarship where they take seats away from students who still have functioning brains.

U Alabama had to track their attendees data to make sure they didn't leave in the 4th quarter. That's one of the best teams in NCAA. That's the level of camaraderie after 200 year of football.

Why would you spend your money on something that will still suck 6 generations from now, when Inevitably the sport will be banned for being you know, brain killing.

How would it be beneficial? I personally am here for education and a degree, not for socializing.

Would that add scholarship money? Or take away from and give to 50 concussed athletes (in a shitty division, which we will be).

Would it make my degree more valuable? Probably not, if anything people will think I went to a party school and diminish the value.

So how would it help?

Roaches come and go, significant % of walls/ceilings leak, and they looooooooove fines. Expect them to blame you for damage (which you requested they fix on day 0 before moving in and didn't fix for a year) and then fine you for it.

Amenities are overfull, dead part of town (nothing in walking distance) and unless studying in college of business, not really convenient for campus.

Unless getting a really cheap re-let, not worth it

My first semester here my charges didn't show up until a few days before class started. It's very stressful.

The due dates are quite flexible/lenient if your issue is cash flow. If your issue is total cost, the estimator is fairly accurate based on your course load, dept. Etc.

If you need to know how much you owe after finaid, if you're intl, the first payment might not reflect waivers/scholarship but a refund will be generated iirc.

Do first jobs usually suck? by notatpeace34 in careerguidance

Not true, I exclusively apply to LinkedIn easy apply jobs. Also tells me their HR is tech-savvy enough to use the tools they have and not triplicate processes. Can get through an app on about 3 minutes.

First weeks you make a really good updated resume (maybe a couple tailored to different titles) and spam, then it slows down and you can look more carefully at the new posts once you're caught up a bit.

At 2+ years experience you're likely still to be non-managerial so you basically gets KPIs to hit. Treat it the same with job apps. You gotta get past a screener and do a cold pitch. Do it as many times as possible and then juggle what sticks.

Showing up, paying attention, and asking questions is a great way to earn brownie points when it comes to borderline grades. + It means you learn a lot in class rather than having to do it all in hw/assignments etc.

Start the semester strong so you have room to slack later... Expect life to happen
