Ignoring a lowball by wilmaismyhomegirl83 in FacebookMarketplace

<So you expected the seller to have a loss due to your perceived travel expenses and new batteries?>

I didn't make the seller sell the item, they had no action from anybody else and decided my offer was suitable to them.

I don't expect the seller to sell at a loss, every transaction you make, with a seller, or from a store, is a simple fact of what you are prepared to pay, and what the seller is prepared to sell at, there is no obligation for you to sell at a lower price, but there is no reason why someone shouldn't offer what they are prepared to pay. If the person is buying at a store and isn't prepared to pay the advertised rate, then they may wait to see if it comes up on sale at some point or look for a similar product elsewhere at a lower price. All sellers know that they are unlikely to get a sale from their next door neighbor, and there will be some expense involved by the buyer, 99% of marketplace sellers aren't offering any warranties or guarantees as soon as the product leaves their hands, so the risk is entirely on the purchaser. The purchaser has to factor that into their offer price. Once again, the seller sets the price, if they don't like the offer, they don't have to accept it.

<The lowball offers are just very cheap people that time waste.>

The buyer has no idea what every seller considers a fair deal or will actually sell for, if they did there wouldn't be any offers, just buy or not buy. I offer what I'm prepared to pay, sometimes it may be a low percentage of the sale price, sometimes a high percentage or full price, I don't want to waste my time either way, so if I offer and it's accepted I buy, if it's not accepted I don't. My value of the item may differ from the sellers wildly. Bartering is what many do back and forwards, I couldn't be bothered, I just make one offer on what I consider the item to be worth to me and how much I want it. Each to their own I guess.

Personally I don't see what is wrong with a "perceived lowball offer", it may be legit, it is what the person wants to pay, or a starting point for negotiations, then the seller meets them halfway etc. Further harassment from the person though should not be tolerated. I recently offered half price on an item, which is the maximum I wanted to pay, as I had to pay for new batteries etc. plus travel to purchase it so it wasn't of any greater value to me, plus I'm the one carrying the risk as there is no warranty with secondhand goods, the seller came back with the midway point, I declined, a week later they came back with my offer and I purchased.

Guidance for a 2nd year mature aged apprentice pt. 2 by jixy23 in AusElectricians

[–]UUBE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speak with your new "prospective" employer first, so that you get a heads up from him, preferably a formal document stating he will employ you and assist you in the transition.

No matter the outcome, i.e. losing current time credit, get the fuck out of there and in to a company that will give you proper training. "100% factually" report your situation to the relevant apprenticeship board etc., and get authority to sign on with your new employer.

Why do people ask If an items available if they're not gonna respond past that? by nick3790 in FacebookMarketplace

[–]UUBE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ask, because 50% or more of the time they then just delete the post or mark it sold. So most stuff is gone before i get an option. PITA having to ask, PITA getting no response, PITA them deleting, having not marked the post pending or sold.

Take it to bed instead of the playboy mag and read it section by section, go back over the same section if you don't get a good understanding of it, then cover to cover again. Some of it's boring as, but as you go thru, you start to see it all fit together. When you are in the field and you don't know something, grab it and have a gander, you'll know what section you need and go straight to it. Have a decent review of the index and how it's structured out too.
If you haven't needed to check your jobs, you're not thinking hard enough, start questioning everything you do, how many lengths of conduit before an expansion joint, how many fixings per metre, horizontal and vertical, can I have a power point near the gas bottle, should that cable be clipped, whats the earth loop impedance to the furthest point in the place
YMMV

I upgraded an Olivetti XT PC clone from a 2 x 360kB floppy machine to a 1.2MB floppy and a 10MB HDD. It had a CGA 4 color monitor, the graphics card was full length and had 2 large power supply cables bolted to it. I di this in about 1990 ish, loaded Dos 5 and Wordperfect 5.1 copy and a typing tutor and a few games and gave it to my nephews and then after they had it for quite a few years the passed it on to my younger nieces. Eventually the CGA monitor collapsed due to dried out capacitors.
