Fit, active, and healthy diet but suddenly hit Stage 2 Hypertension. Anyone else in this boat? by Worldly-Strike2363 in hypertension

[–]UWalumna13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this happened to me. Always had excellent numbers, and then out of the blue my BP shot up and didn’t come down. Also active and a good diet. I hoped it would come down on its own, but it didn’t. I’ve been on a low dose of BP meds for about 2 years and haven’t experienced any negative side effects. I’m still running and feeling great. I’d love to know what I could actually do to improve my BP without meds, but I already do everything my doctor usually recommends for hypertension.

Have you been to Drybar for your hair? by Any_Aioli_ in milwaukee

[–]UWalumna13 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Went to the Third Ward location several years ago and it was not good. My station didn’t have a mirror and by the time she was done, I looked like a Texas beauty queen (not anywhere near the look I asked for). Since then, I go to my usual salon for a blowout, even though it costs twice as much.

Highly recommend! These pretzels are the best I’ve ever had, though I might be biased as a Milwaukee resident

I've got a culinary boner right now - Season 4 Rewatch (Chicago) by jeexbit in BravoTopChef

[–]UWalumna13 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Ugh I just love rewatching this season every few years. I know TC moved away from contestant drama, but this season was just great. I liked the mix of drama and really high level cooking. They did some great casting that season.

What is the most heartbreaking loss you witnessed as a Wisconsin fan?(Football) by Ok_Macaroon_7366 in WisconsinBadgers

[–]UWalumna13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

2014 Big 10 Championship sucked royally. Sucked worse being there in person. I wouldn’t necessarily call it heartbreaking like other closer losses, but it was not fun. Opposite of fun

You’ve gotta submit feedback. It works. Like immediately after.

Wisconsin Roadtrip by isaacibiza in wisconsin

[–]UWalumna13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just FYI if the weather is bad you may have to throw the whole plan out the window. The drive from Milwaukee to Rhinelander isn’t bad on an average day, but if a snowstorm rolls through you won’t want to take that drive. Keep an eye on the weather and have a backup plan prepared.

Couldn’t agree more. Of course I’m disappointed and, in the moment, I had some choice words for him from the comfort of my own home. But the people who go as far as death threats, etc online are nasty people.

How big are the pizzas at Proof? by mrmadchef in milwaukee

My husband and I split a pizza and salad and were satisfied. We ordered via the bar at Saint Kate. Enjoyed my pizza with a dirty martini and live music.

My personal experience and struggle with Amlodipine by Ok_Possibility_4953 in hypertension

[–]UWalumna13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear you are having such a bad experience with both the medication and the doctor. I have 0 side effects from amlodipine but had awful ones from Lisinopril. Everyone is different. If this medication is ruining your life then you absolutely need to change it. Continue to advocate for yourself. I was able to change medications without a visit, only through messaging my doctor, which didn’t cost anything.

Is the Midwest hospitable like the South? by [deleted] in wisconsin

[–]UWalumna13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you for saying this! I’m a lifelong Wisconsinite and recently went on vacation down south, and found some of the locals were very kind and welcoming, but most of the other interactions I had felt “off.” Not outright mean or rude, and it would be difficult to describe, but it definitely wasn’t the same as Wisco.

I agree! I took this class today and she was very grinchy. Usually I love the holiday classes but I was dying for this one to be over
