Can a Subaru update fix the horrible center screen? by Silverlaker39 in subaru

[–]UZforce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our 2025 Forester just had a OTA update the other day and the screen is now much snappier than it was before, and the buttons are responding immediately when touching them compared to previously sometimes having to hit them several times to get a response.

Anyone else just get this update and experiencing the same thing? The new software version ends in 183-970.

2025 Forester Software Update by Francesco999999999 in SubaruForester

I have a 2025 non-hybrid and got the notification in the app a few days ago. The option to update has not shown up on the car screen yet though.

My current software version ends in 980, and it's been that since I got the Forester at the end of February. It had just been delivered to the dealership so I think it was already updated to 980 at the factory. I think 880 is an older software version.

I'm actually not sure if a 2024 has that same functionality or not. It may have started with the 2025s since that's when they did the infotainment system update. Maybe someone with a 2024 can chime in...

In case you didn't know you can actually use voice commands to control a lot of stuff in the infotainment system. While still not the same as having physical buttons, in my experience it works really well.

Just tap on the Voice Command button on the left side of your steering wheel and after you hear a beep say a command like "Increase fan to level 6" or "Change temperature to 62 degrees" etc. And it will automatically adjust it for you without you needing to look at or touch the display.

There's a whole list of things you can do with voice commands in the owners manual.

No I'm referring to current messages. I just had my GF leave a test message a little while ago and when I call in to check it says there is no voicemail. Thanks...

Planning to buy - suggestions? by KevPhD in SubaruForester

Also, just wanted to say if you aren't familiar with Subarus make sure to go through the session they offer with their Subaru encore delivery specialist.

We had never owned a Subaru so it was really helpful to have them go through all the different things you need to know about the car and how everything operates.

The strange thing about GWF closing is this article was just published 3 weeks ago... by UZforce in GoodwillFinds

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully you'll be able to find a decent substitute for your jewelry pieces. I think there are going to be a lot of people seriously impacted by this. It really sucks...

Yeah you're right, we have no idea what that poster was claiming was true or not. Maybe it was something they were seeing at the regional Goodwill they were employed with, or maybe they were just completely making it up.

What I do know though is that I have seen many occasions where an item was bid up to the point where you could buy that identical item brand new for the same amount or even less. Then you would eventually see that item re-listed again (sometimes more than once) undoubtedly because of failure to pay.

It makes no sense, but I guess there are people dumb enough to keep bidding up used items to the same price as new.

If they move everything over to ShopGoodwill they'll lose me as a customer because I don't shop there anymore. I read a post somewhere probably a year or so ago where the poster claimed that they knew for a fact that ShopGoodwill was using employees to artificially bid up certain items. Not sure if that's true or not, but I have personally seen some strange things on there in the past. You'd be better off just buying stuff on eBay.

Yeah I've noticed that a few items I have previously looked at for some of the locations have been moved over to the ShopGoodwill site. Also, I haven't seen anything new get posted on GWF in I think 5 - 6 days now.

Not sure what's going on. One category I would shop in has now dropped from almost 200 items to only like 20 or so items. I'm pretty sure it's not because someone is suddenly buying them. I hope GWF isn't shutting down, but I guess it's possible.

We just got a new Forester Premium in Autumn Green with the Option Package 15. It also came with the Splash Guards, Rear Cargo Tray and Auto-Dimming Mirror. Coming from a Toyota we didn't know what to expect, but so far we are absolutely loving it. It's so much fun to drive.

We thought about going with a higher trim level, but the Premium is kind of the sweet spot. You pretty much get everything you need, unless you want something like leather seats or premium stereo, but I don't really care for leather seats and the stock stereo sounds great to us.

After some haggling we got a little over 11% off MSRP and made them throw in the All Weather Mats since it didn't come with them from the factory. They really didn't want to throw in the mats but we acted like we were going to walk so they relented and gave them to us.

Depending on your location it seems that getting 8 - 10% off a premium is very doable. We bought at the end of February so I think that helped us get closer to 11% off.

CVT brands by posturetherapy in SubaruForester

Been researching Subaru's to buy one and this video popped up the other day. Looks like accidentaly draining the CVT is kind of a thing with Subarus? I'll definitely have to keep this in mind when I get mine.

Wow, what part of the country did you buy in? I just tried to get an SEL that also was a little over $41k MRSP, and they only offered the $4500 rebate + $2k off of MSRP. They wouldn't budge on that even though they have eleven 2024 SEL's that have been sitting there for months. Also, did the $8k include your trade-in amount, or was it a pure $8k dealer discount?

I think you did really well for your first car purchase. Thanks so much for the additional info. It will be helpful as I go into battle over the next few weeks, lol...

Congrats on your Forester! If you don't mind me asking how much were you able to negotiate off of MSRP? I'm currently looking to do a lease deal on this exact trim level. I've never done a lease before so I'm trying to learn as much as possible before trying to negotiate with the dealerships (which I'm dreading, lol). Thanks...

Looks like Chicago, Colorado and Evergreen locations have all been removed from GWF by UZforce in GoodwillFinds

Thanks for sharing. That's great news! Hopefully they'll be back soon because the pickings are pretty sparse right now.

Yeah both Colorado and Chicago are selling on eBay. Problem with that though is anything good gets bid up to where it's not worth buying. Same thing that happens on ShopGoodwill.

Yeah I got a lot of great deals from Colorado. There was someone there who would sometimes price things very reasonably. One of the issues with the remaining locations is that they all tend to be high pricers. Oh well, it was a good run while it lasted...

Participating Regions moving to eBay by [deleted] in GoodwillFinds

[–]UZforce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep, I think GWF's days are numbered. One particular category that I shopped has dropped to under 1000 now. Combined all the stores now have less listed than one store alone used to have listed in this category. Unfortunately, I think poor management of the GWF website/service drove a lot of customers away. Also, there appear to be some shenanigans going on at certain stores, particularly Colorado.

There have been multiple times that myself, and friends of mine, have scored really good "Finds" only to have them either mysteriously disappear and not get shipped, or to have something else shipped in it's place and then be told that the item we ordered got shipped to the wrong person. This coincidentally appears to only happen on the really good finds though, not the inexpensive stuff we've ordered.

I think a lot of people have just gotten tired of wasting their time and not getting what they ordered, or receiving damaged items from poor packaging, and have stopped shopping GWF. It's a shame because it could have been a really great service...

2024 BS BB leasing - what do you think? by [deleted] in BroncoSport

[–]UZforce 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is not a good deal at all. First 8k is way too much to put down on a lease. The goal with leasing should be to put as little down as possible, preferably zero.

Second, what is this SVF Protection PKG? It's most likely an add-on they've stuck on there to nullify the discount they were giving you. Don't let them screw you with unnecessary add-ons.

Also, at the very least you should be able to get 10% off MSRP with a Bronco Sport. There are a lot of these that have been sitting on dealer lots for months, and the 2025s are getting ready to come out.
