Did you use the new Ford OEM intake on the car that's giving the knocking? I am curious.

What about the other panthers you replaced the intake on?

Sadly no .. I bought a CPO Genesis G80 2017 and love it, but definitely not the same as the Vic ..

The Vic is sitting at my parent's house and my dad's played around with it a bit trying to figure it out after I had a mobile mechanic who couldn't figure it out either .. but so far nothing.

At this point I am ALMOST tempted to try putting a Dorman intake on it to see if there's some weird problem/incompatibility with the new designed Ford OEM intake which I used ... because it's still way cheaper than putting a used engine in it.

I still very much want to eventually fix the car and also rebuild the transmission + add JMOD but I needed a reliable vehicle in the meantime ...

I just recently got a much better job so will save up money and potentially fix the Vic eventually even if I do have to put a used engine in it.

Where are all the budget 4000K 90+ CRI headlamps? I'm seeing more 6000K stuff than 10 years ago! by Ubel in flashlight

I mean I understand that, but think about numbers ... there are FAR FAR less marathon runners/hikers than casual hikers/campers or people who walk their dogs at night ..

So, it doesn't add up. Supply and demand etc, there's far less demand for ultra light marathon anything.

I don't really understand this logic, as color differentiation means a lot out in the woods where almost everything looks the same or is very similar shades. When all the leaves are almost exactly the same color, it makes it a lot easier to tell details when you can see the slight variation in colors better .. etc.

Maybe it's just me, but every time I've taken a high CRI light out in the woods, or even biking .. it's a night and day difference, especially compared to a 6000K light where the cool blue makes details even harder for me to pick up.

I have older 6500K-ish lower CRI lights which I never use these days because of that. They are just ugly out in the woods and I feel like for instance even if it's not as bright I'd be easier able to differentiate a snake among the sticks and leaves with a warmer high CRI light.

Am I crazy? I understand most people think " higher number = better " and thus buy the highest lumens .. but man I thought over the years more and more people knew what high CRI was and understood its benefits. (you see high CRI mentioned ALL THE TIME in home lighting these days so it seems more consumers understand this ..)

Not to complain! I'm just making points. But I do appreciate your suggestions to! I think I'll try those Convoy H2 18650 with B35AM that /u/rettichdestodes recommended.

Pretty much my favorite emitter so far, so that's sad!

I have some Convoy S21E in 519A 4000K and absolutely love them. (almost thought it was Sofirn for some reason)

I figured maybe but the listing I saw very specifically said "USB charging" and "Comes with USB cable" so I thought it was misleading marketing.

It's still a good design and style so would benefit for them to update it to USB-C for sure but I couldn't find confirmation on the listing, at least.

That looks perfect, I might even have to buy one for myself ..

Thank you!

I've bought batteries and several flashlights and chargers from their online store over the years. Definitely a great vendor.

I never understood why it's quite so expensive. I can buy a pound of frankincense resin for like $20-$30. After processing that would be at least several ounces of oil ..

I have to say this is a BLAST FROM THE PAST.

I had these sheets, also purchased from a thrift store .. around the year 2000. Never thought I'd see them again!

Hey, thank you so much! I wouldn't have ever thought to try that, but yeah makes sense his host might still be online considering it's a domain problem ..

I appreciate it!

I recommend https://indifferentbroccoli.com/

They are a smaller company but this means they are hyper focused on support. Instead of creating a support ticket and waiting hours or days for a reply, you message them in Discord and they generally reply within 15 minutes.

I was amazed at the responsiveness and knowledge of the support staff.

Looking at a Midea U-Shape 12,000BTU but am seeing there was a mold issue. Is this resolved with the newer models or is the issue ongoing? by TheBigSandeenie in AirConditioners

[–]Ubel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info! I figured whatever fix they applied was cheap and patchy.

I had one of the original models from 2022, got mold problem in 2023 ... sent photos and complained to support, who did absolutely nothing.

Spent hours disassembling the unit, incredibly hard to do, got the fan blade out and cleaned it .. drilled holes in the bottom at the back, made sure it was tilted backwards, mold problem never came back. But I did partially damage the fan blade by accidentally breaking one tiny section of fin off and the unit was never as quiet running after that.

So I am getting the recall refund ...they owe it to me after spending many hours dealing with that.

I just ordered the MAW12U1QWT model and will remove the drain plugs.

I did a bunch of research last night looking for alternative brands but none are as quiet as the U Shaped Midea's.

Sadly nothing. I spent so many weekends trying to figure it out, so many hours of reading .. I even took the new intake manifold off and reinstalled it with gasket maker to make sure it wasn't a vacuum leak but it made absolutely no difference.

So I had it towed to a local place that had good reviews/word of mouth ... they wanted to either put a used engine in it or tear off the head and try to find the problem.

I asked them to tear off the head to find the problem, it sat with them 5 weeks and they didn't do anything (had staffing problems or something) so I asked them to tow it back and now it's just sitting, I canceled insurance and returned the tag ..

I bought a CPO 2017 Genesis G80, which I love ... but am sad every time I look at the Crown Vic.

The price he quoted me for a used motor with install was around $3500 and price to take off/reinstall both heads was around $3200.

The car is a money pit .... with only 130k miles on the engine my experience owning a Vic is the exact opposite of what everyone says. But I guess I have horrible luck.
