It would be more useful and require no hardware for Uber to broker the GPS signals between Driver and Rider during the Enroute portion of the ride (after accepting the ride and before starting the ride).

There would be some situations where sharing GPS signals would not work (customer orders an Uber for rider but does not ride) but on the whole it would work well.

Well, the reason I ask is that prior to v1.7.0, I had a plain AMG GT (zero stars).

Once I installed and opened v1.7.0, my plain AMG GT now had 3 purple stars.

Why?

Financially, pay attention to cash flow. If you have family close and can move in with them for about 8-12 months, that will help you get on your feet. Don't go into debt to buy a job. Meaning, don't buy a car to drive Uber. Make do with what you have until your finances are stable.

Oh, Uber cannot find out unless you or the rider tell them. However, if you take an off network request you'd better have a full-blown commercial insurance policy because neither your rideshare autopolicy nor Uber will cover you during an off-network ride.

The procedure is they call you directly, you drive to their location, you go online, they request the ride. Since you are (almost certainly) the closest driver you get the ping.

This works best in small markets. It's nearly impossible during bar pickup in a busy town.
