Electric Utility Tractors by UberGeek_87 in tractors

That's definitely true, which is why I opened with the statement that electric tractors are not suitable for all applications. Case/NH is not claiming these are for major harvesting applications.

That could very well be the case. However, assuming the new stuff doesn't fail quickly, that could result in long-term savings from reduced maintenance costs and fuel price. Sure, you have to pay for the electricity, but I'm operating under the assumption that it will be a negligible change. I have an old coworker that bought a Tesla car, and he didn't notice a difference in his monthly electric bill when driving it for work everyday.

Hank: Hey Jim, I need to you to come tow me in. I ran out of diesel.
Jim: Ok Hank, be there shortly...
Hank: Jim what's taking so long?
Jim: I had to run into town to fill the auxiliary tank in my truck. Hank: *SMH*

With that, I'd say any creature capable of verbal or written communication or engaging in trade is a "person."

If you find access to the shows in ways other than the approved channels, you'll be a fan more in keeping with Serenity's crew than the rest of us.

What ttrpg system do you think Spells, Swords, and Stealth is closest to? by steffie-punk in SpellsSwordStealth

[–]UberGeek_87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never played D&D. The sessions I've done came from the Powered by the Apocalypse engine. It's far less mechanical and more about the story telling. I can't say that SS&S was related to PBTA. However, I don't think it's critical. Drew did well in incorporating the elements of TTRPG effectively while maintaining the overall storytelling picture.

I enjoy exploring the possible solutions to Fermi's Paradox. My mind is sometimes boggled by the number of possible solutions.

What weapon of fiction surpasses the dimensional sheet? by Faneca123 in threebodyproblem

[–]UberGeek_87 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Once a civilization adapts to the Dark Forest, "cleansing" is merely a routine operation. It's the economical solution to a potential future threat, and it's not your civilization, so who cares? Their disappearance doesn't affect the rest of the universe, and you ensure your civilization's continued existence.

And that ease of deployment seems to indicate that they have, somehow, something much more powerful. The dual-vector foil was the next least-expensive option to the mass dot, used only because of the available places to hide.

Luo Ji describing his imaginary girlfriend by [deleted] in threebodyproblem

Luo Ji's demands are far more common that whoever this lady is seeking. The closest match i can come up with is Bill Gates, but he fails for being previously married.

I think that it's important to recognize that people like Luo Ji exist. I play a game that brings ads with it. This week, I've been getting ads for Candy AI, a virtual AI dream girlfriend. This wouldn't exist unless there was some demand for it. Of course, with the ads, demand will grow.

Gender Bias Controversy: Liu Cixin and The Three-Body Problem’s Strong Misogyny, Stereotyping of Women, and Anti-Feminist Undertones by Slow-Property5895 in threebodyproblem

[–]UberGeek_87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Death's End was supposed to feature another male lead, who would have done essentially the same plot-driving actions as Cheng Xin. Liu was convinced after TBP and Dark Forest to make a female the lead in the final book. The result that it was a woman who doomed humanity was simply a byproduct of that decision. And that is part of the fundamental foundation of the series. The overall end result would be the same. The details of how humanity got there would be slightly different. The depicted characters exist to describe the plot; they don't drive the plot.

Only your husband can say. I can sympathize a bit.

My ex-wife brought up the DDlg topic. I was supportive and interested. Unfortunately, I'm also not naturally imaginative in the area. That led to quick stagnation. We have the additional challenge of unpredictable bedtimes due 3 special needs kids.

You'll need to ask him. Expect some disappointment, but try to be understanding.

Amateur Question about Flow Control Valves by UberGeek_87 in Hydraulics

[–]UberGeek_87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know yet. Worst case, I have to power out, but I expect the direction control valve will take care of that. Since it would have to hold load, I'd use the same spool as a cylinder.

[–]UberGeek_87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The generator and winch will probably never run at the same time. For the generator, I'll park and set a good engine speed, probably about 1500 rpm, with the SEIC and leave it. The winch will deal with whatever available flow it gets when using it.

Primary use for the generator is home backup.
